Big Wayne. Eat your heart out Wayne (NY). Should have put the thing on a flat bed and rode in it.

Great seeing old and new faces. Thanks Dave and Jeannie for your efforts in putting this thing together.

I think not?
Kevin-
I am so VERY sorry we didn't get to your remote keyless entry install. Unfortuantely, as a passenger, you're at the mercy of the driver's schedule. I did look araound for you at some point, but then we went up to Grandfather Mtn. I'll see if I can do a write-up that even RANDY can follow.

As for the shrine? There are some days when you feel the world is against you and times when it's looking our for you. This past weekend was a little of both, but more of the former.

Thanks to everyone for coming, we had a GREAT time and it was wonderful to see our "old friends" and make new ones!

The 928s at the event were absolutely AMAZING!!! The offical count this year was 102 928s!!

Here are a few pics that were sent to me...more details and pics to come later after we rest a little!!

Here's a little more detailed pic of the Canadian. The chrome was an unexpected treat. Very nicely done.

A few more pics:
-Sharks at the hotel at Alcoa resting before the Dragon run
-George & Claudia V with Sherri Meier heading to the Meadow
-Our two sharks at the Fla. Welcome station... missed those palm trees
-The Texas Gang & co. on the way to Banner Elk after the Dragon
-Sharks staging for the Dragon

This was our third SITM. Each gets more incredible! Great to see old friends and make new friends too! Was a ton of fun to bring both our sharks(can't believe I'm getting to say that!). Pamela had a great time driving her S4. I'm sure we'll cringe to see the gas bill, but you cannot put a price on the fun & friendship of SITM in our love for these cars. And seeing that pic of me that Dr. Kim took along the Dragon only confirms the fact, that unfortunately for me, I am definately fatter, older & lazier than my shark!

Thanks to the Texas gang for allowing me to tag along for the Dragon & the ride to Banner Elk, hope I didn't slow anyone up too much! They are great people & the model of how a state 928 group should be. Truly again DR, Jeannie & crew did another awesome job in making it a unforgettable event. Two very special people to us all.

Three other impressions for now. One is the four Supercars that passed us along the Blue Ridge Parkway. Yellow Ferrari 430; Silver Mercedes McLaren SLR; Ford GT(blue perhaps?); Lime green Lambo...... I was awestruck to see a couple of Million dollars pass by too. But then I thought, wtf, WE are driving super cars too. They may be older & not as expensive even in today's dollars... but give me a shark over any of them, any day & I'd be happy! Especially for the price of our cars!

I will also always remember the teenager & his gf as we were waiting for some to gas up after dinner Sat. before going to Dave & Jeannies. He was as wide eyed as a kid at Xmas when he saw our 10 or so sharks at the gas station. He turned around & pulled his Mustang in & asked what kind of cars they were(we gotta work on PR). Said he'd never seen one & what were we all doing there. Then he asked...."are they fast?".... where's Murph when ya need him!

Last impression just added: Our group of 11 cars on the way from the Dragon to Banner Elk blowing by the weigh station & two state troopers at triple digits!

Man this looked like a great event! Bummed that I had to miss it but glad I can live vicariously through everyone's pictures and description.

Looks like everyone had a great time and no major issues.

Once a again..LOVED IT!
Great job to Dave, Jeannie, Pam and the rest behind the scenes. Its always a treat to be able to get out there and see everyone, even with out a 928 The scenery and the roads are wonderful in that part of the country and with that a special thanks out to Glen, Bobby, AJ, Joe, Greg and others who gave their right seats to Bill, Darien and myself so we could get around in style and enjoy the 928 experience. Thanks guys we sincerely appreciated that.
I can speak for Darien here….Herr Kempf and Scot …Thanks also

It was a whirlwind trip leaving Vegas at 1240am Friday and getting back last night 1030pm but it was made a bit easier by stops at the various airport bars and a comfy 1st class seat on the way home! Its was Dariens first time to the event and Bills second after 7 years so it was nice to be able to share the event with a couple of local guys here. I had a some "buddy passes" left and I managed to get them on flights out there and back. I think Darien and Bill drank their body weights in Crown Royal and Courvoisier on the way home.

Enjoyed it all!

I managed to get some pics and video which Im sure will trickle its way on to the thread over time .

1) good choice of Brew
2) "got pulley"
3) flawless center cap on some flawless wheels...of which there were many there this year!
4)Herr Kempf in "hottttttt Purrrrrrrsuit" of Scot
5)One of my rides around SITM, thanks Glen!
6) Shawns awesome SC'd 86

I puckered a bit when we passed the weigh station at 110, me being the straggler and easy pickings. So, I slowed down to 100 to show them I meant well. :-)

I think there was also a GT3 and some other Ferrari in that bunch, and maybe an Audi in the front. They were entering the tunnel when I exited and they caught me by surprise. Can someone look at the video I posted and figure out what the silver car is after the GT3, before the GT40?

*EDIT* It was the Mercedes SLR

I already want to go back, after some suspension work. While we were on the Dragon, I thought I was pushing it a bit, but after watching some of my video, I felt like I was riding with my grandma. I guess I didn't want to spin out my 1st time, especially when Heinrich was glued to my bumper and I was holding him back. :-) I also promised my wife I wouldn't drive off the side of a mountain.

Also, did anyone else find the old house on either 19 or 194 that had the stable of Cayenne's, 911's, and 356's out front, by some rustic restaurant? Hans mentioned it and I stumbled across it on my haphazard drive home. There were probably 3-4 of each car and I think they were all silver. What's the story there?
