Default for sale: drysump kit

both myself and alex here in the uk have been looking for a solution for the 928 and we are now working with Pace automotive who have allready installed a complete drysump system on a GTS racecar that has run for one season succesfully and without issue.

the cost will be in the region of £1600 gbp and will include the following major components: modified sump pan; oil pump and brackets; pulleys; fittings and hoses for the pan, pump and scavenge along with pressure feed...

i have pictures but cant post them as they are too big and i am away from my home computer to resize them, if i can email them to someone that would be great. the system is quality and works well from a company with an established track record, please feel free to ask any questions or indicate interest.

timing will be about 6-8 weeks from deposit, the final details of the deal including exact specification and cost will be established once i have the number of interested parties firmly established.

as i mentioned im using an internet cafe at the minute so might be a bit delayed in responding, hopefully alex can add to this as well

also, once we have made a further 'prototype' (the original is still on the gts racecar) i imagine it will be possible to order these from pace as a kit at a future date.

mmmm... but if you fator in the cost of an engine rebuild after you toast a bearing it becomes cheap as chips! and as a byproduct it should slove problems with blowby on supercharged engines

Unfortunately the dollar for rather obviuos reasons has been dropping like a ROCK and as the Chinese diversify their currency holdings.... just remember the party line is that a lower value dollar will help us all by making imported products more expensive so more expensive domestic products are competitive...

I think that is pretty reasonable actually, you are correct DrNick, one toasted bearing and it is cheap. Pace make good stuff too. Love to see some pics. My address is greg.gray@optusnet.com.au How many stages is the kit? Where are they placing the bit and pieces?

Thanks Greg

A toasted bearing- 3,136 drysump as preventative maintenance, or call Jim Bailey and order a shortblock or complete engine. For about the same cost I will risk it with option B!

I'll trade one 6sp conversion kit to two dry sump kits.

Not meaning to stir the pot, or steal the thread, but I thought it was recently posted that Mark A had an engine failure with a dry sump that was eliminated (as was the dry sump) after drilling the crank and doing the whole "like a chevy" thing.

But $3k is just the starting point if you grenade an engine--it would be much more than that to even partially refresh and race-prep another engine and get it in the car. Option B, even taking Cost x Probability less than 100% = probable cost is far greater than Option A.

In perfect world below would be solution to end all 928 engine oiling problems but suspects its far from it. It obviously helps but much else is needed in places like Nurburgring.

Local shop do not want to drill like Chevy as they are afraid factory hardenings will snap their drill bits in and they would be liable for the damaged crank. Above is Moldex stroker.

Erkka,

You got something in your crank, man .

This would be a good one for the random thread.
