Yeah but this doesnt really count, cause it looks awful close to Amazon to me.

What year and model Merc's came with this cool color?

It isn't even close. In the flesh you wouldn't mistake one for the other. I PPI'd that car in '99 for James M. when it went off lease up here in Beantown.

It looks a lot more like Aventurene green than amzon from the pictures. I am assuming it is not a pearlescent color like Amazon.

Mercedes had that color from the early 80's when they introduced the 190 and W124. I think they phased it out in the late 90's. Not very popular really and it doesn't have the bimetallic look to it like the Amazon and many other Porsche colors. MB never really did cool colors except the Anthracite IMHO.

Ive been partial to Amazon for awhile, but after seeing this Amethyst 965 at Barrett Jackson, I am thinking that I will buy just about any GTS and paint it this color

I see only 1 GTS in the US with this color.

Amazon is much to common a GTS color, with like 10 of them. Midnight even more common with like 30 LOL

I agree how dare they make 10 Amazon GTS's I have a friend with a 965 in Amethyst. Definitely a unique color. It is like a red version of cobalt and has people on the fence either love or hate it. Although 90% of the people love it when they see it in person.

BTW how much did the 965 go for? This car was discussed a couple of times and I never knew what came of it. I guess i know now.

Car sold for $53,000 to an internet or telephone buyer

I dont think its anything like red, its dark, it could pass for black at night (whereas red will never be confused for anything else at night) but in the sun its awesome

Yup. Just a run-of-the-mill metallic.

The owner of that car (as of ~2004-ish) has posted here.

Since nobody posted a Petrolium Blue...

I actually start to love it. In day light it's middle between blue and green. But at night it becomes a really nice blue.

A couple of older pictures
I would strongly suggest that if your getting a new dash covering that you go with a darker color , the sun reflects off the dash and is not the best way for driving.
I actually had a pod cover made from black leather that sits on top of the pod to reduce the reflections
