Default Turquoise Metallic # 923

My '91 S4. I've only ever seen one other Porsche, a 993 cab, in this color. This car will have a new home soon after 2 years in my clutches.

Another L999 here. Its been resprayed, but is very similar to the original. The original color didnt have much metallic flakes (if any). My interior is VA. I was wondering if anyone could tell me what that was. Its blue leather, but is there a correct name? Also, does anyone know if L999 had black engine bays? Being originally a non metallic navy, its possible that what looks black is just navy, but it sure looks black. I was just curious if they are, because it helps explain how these cars were made to order. The owners manual has the first owners name, address and phone number, but this was back in 1985, so I doubt any of that is still accurate. If they were it would be nice to contact him and ask what he used as a sample.

Try to hunt the OO down. All you need is a name and sme guts to call a stranger.
My '84 Euro is L999 and I had the same curiosity. Called the OO and got a good story from him.

Unfortunately the owners name is "Youdan LS6 Chris Ross"

Have no idea what kind of name that is, but all together nothing on the internet exist (until google spiders this thread) There is however a ga-jillion Chris Rosses in the Houston area (if he still even live there) But I doubt he would be listed.

I even thought about contacting the original dealership (if it still exists) and asking about him (in case he was a repeat customer) I doubt theyd give out personal info like that. Plus I dont know what kind of data back up and storage they did back then.

Well my car also seems to be a rare color - Black/Black ! Really - its the water based non-metalic Black code 741 which was only offered on the later GTS models. Very few seem to be this color.. - most are Black 700 or Black 747 or Metalic Black 746.

Anyone else with 741? (...and yes I know its still Black)

Alan

Thanks for posting that paint code! I was trying to figure out what my original paint code was and keep seeing grays but they just weren't right. Now I know what the paint color truly is! I have an 88 Auto in the same exact color.

Isn"t that a linen interior? How do you go about getting the interior code?

Interior code is next to paint code on a sticker under the carpet in the back.

Well it certainly looks like linen. I'm just not sure if the code is linen or if it's a special order as well. According to PET I'm guessing linen leather wasn't available 1990. So it would be something like paint L998="Special order color from an older Porsche".

Got a bit curious, googled and found interior code 99 to be "Full leather interior to customer sample" on 911. So it make sense that 98 meaning leather from previous model. Still guessing though..

Thanks to rixter, I found out that the car was painted Dunkelblau (dark blue) a porsche color (even though its 999 and not 998) The sad thing is a few months later this color would become a standard color for the 928.

Now if I could only figure out what another owner repainted the car. It matches the door jams well (original color), but has metallic flake to it
