1. Program 928INTL in your phone
2. Go shopping w/a smile on your face
3. Shop like there's no tomorrow or shop till she drop
4. Way back home, dial 928INTL. Your wife thinking you deserve the head gaskets more than anything else ====> PRICELESS!

Perhaps the lesson is don't warm your car up standing still unless you're absolutely sure your radiator flaps are forced open and your fan is 100% go? I know of some bikes without fan that hit max temp idleing, though at speed temp is perfect, even under very spirited driving conditions.
The Owner's Manual is interesting reading. Both of mine say do not warm up standing still, drive it (moderately). I guess this is the reason.

Are we saying an idling warm up can cause this proplem with out over heating, or only if it overheats?

Warming up the engine before driving is unnecessary and wastes fuel. If the cooling system is operational there is no danger in idling.

Well that's comforting, there are several maintenance procedures that involve starting the engine and letting it idle.

Drain a quart of oil out of there, or maybe two, and test again. I did this once years ago...and really believe that is your problem. Jim Taylor

The car uses 8 liters about 8.44 quarts, the creamy white is condensation. I do not think you have a problem with the head gaskets .

Agreed.

A blown head gasket would have manifested itself long before now.

78 -79 cars have engine oil coolers in the radiator all automatics have trans cooler. USA 1980-1984 do not have engine oil coolers Euro S cars have oil coolers , all 1985 > do BUT starting in 1990 the engine oil cooler is NOT in the radiator it uses air.

Well. unless he's got a Euro, so much for the oil cooler theory!
