no problem with all the questions... here's the answeres....
around 5 to 10 minutes, smoke is thick, not sure about coolent level but i did smell it, and temp seemed normal.

I have always put 9 in both of mine for the past twelve or so years.

how difficult is it to change the head gaskets on these 928's? that is, if that's my problem....

Can you be more specific as to where under the hood? What is the outside temp?

Well I admit I've only done three oil changes in as many years, so I guess I'm wrong about the oil capacity. Too much wine consumption is bad for the memory, perhaps!

i can... seems like some out of the breather and the majority of it from the engine around the area of the coolant overflow container. the outside temp is around 50 to 55 degrees today.

Steve, how was the engine prior to the oil change?

engine seems to run great prior to this. i see you're from chula vista. i used to live there on moss street when i was in the navy.

Not having an overheat condition it becomes misleading. I hope it is a split hose somewhere, but the smoke out the tailpipe is bothersome. How does it run ?

i can't get it to start now... but it still seems to be running ok... not knocking or anything...

So the weather's not cold enough to effect the coolant freezing.

Strange it would just happen after the oil change; did you jack up the car and possibly spill anti-freeze out the reservoir?

Doing a pressure test of the cylinders should reveal a leaky head gskt if thats what you have.
