On your year 928, don't you have some sort of breather hose that goes to the airbox, and has a coolant line running inside of it?

I would not advice you to start it just to take the pics. What do you guys think?

Good point. Check coolant and oil levels first. If it cranks hard STOP right away.

you might also want to pull the plugs to see what they look like. that will tell you a lot.

Before you tear into the engine, you need to pressure test the cooling system. This will tell you if you have a leak in your cooling system. As for confirming that you have water in the oil. Heat up a piece of aluminum foil with a lighter ( not too hot) and drop some of the contaminated oil onto the foil. The water will creat steam and evaporate at a much lower temp than the oil will burn. Its a quick field test that you can do at home.

As to changing the head gaskets it is not difficult but is time consuming. The upside (if this must be done) is that you can replace all old vacume tubes when in there. Other things to consider when there are w/p, timing belt, tensioner. Jeez the list keeps growing, sorry.

Where did you put the fresh oil when you filled the engine after the old oil was drained? Please be very specific and describe the place you put it. What kind of oil did you use? Did you change your coolant also?
