Just totalled my 928
The picture says it all. This happened to my 928 only two nights ago. There was a series of unfortunate factors that caused this accident. I was attempting to pass a slow moving taxi, so I gave it a good amount of throttle and did a quick lane change just as the transmission suddenly kicked down, I recently installed the kick down switch, so it kicked down a little unexpectedly. This extra torque, combined with the wet road conditions, and a slight curve in the road caused my back end to break loose, which quickly became unrecoverable. I slid sideways and ended up hitting a light pole with my back end, just behind the driver's door. My face hit the steering wheel and then my head smashed through the side window. It was only by God's protection that I wasn't killed. In fact, after 4 hours in emergency, I walked away with only 20 stitches to my face, and one eye that will take some time to heal. No other cars/people were involved. By the way, the 928 seatbelts work great, if you haven't had a chance to test them out.
Moral of the story: Always drive with caution, even if you have faith in your cars ability to maintain control.

OMG!! I'm so glad you are allright! Seeing your car brought a few bad memories back for me.
I know the 'it's only a car', 'it's replaceable' and 'the important thing is you're ok' don't make you feel any better but they are all true.
Hang in there.

Nope. Don't think that'll buff right out.
Glad you're safe and sound. There are many stories about sharks protecting their drivers very well, even when the car is totalled.
Sigh. One less sharky.

Glenferd, wow, that's just plain ugly! God certainly did protect you. I hope you're able to find another to replace it, that's a pretty rare color combo.
Jim_H, you'd better destroy that picture before the EPA arrests you for running cat-less! I'm also impressed you had your belly pans on, mine are sitting in a corner because they're such a pain to put on/off.

Well, see what the insurance company gives me. I don't think their book value will be near what it's really worth.
Funny, one of the first things the ambulance driver told me was, "looks like you'll be going car shopping next week."
