Default GT3 Touring or fully spec'd GTS2

I have a GT3 allocation but am not in the market for a RS. I own a Targa 4 GTS and a GTS4, up until about an hour ago I was planning on passing on the Touring and just go bananas on a GTS2. I'd add carbon everywhere, bucket seats, lightweight package, carbon roof and a few other goodies.

The final spec would be about $14-16K cheaper than the Touring. Am I nuts and making a mistake by not going for the Touring?

On October 18th, supposedly around 9:00 AM CET I'll be able to place my order. My SC is saying they don't expect any major changes this year.

So you don’t have an allocation in hand… You have a dealer telling you that they are expecting to have a 992.2 GT3 allocation in October?

That's not quite how I understood things. His words were "your allocation has been confirmed but we can't place the order until the 18th".

Makes zero sense to go with GTS over GT3 Touring. It’s a superior car and will be much cheaper to own.

I’d talk to your dealer. Sounds like they’re expecting allocations on the 18th (which does line up with rumors of the the 992.2 GT3 release), and you’re just first on an internal wait list so you’ll get one of them. Once they have it, you’ll get assigned the allocation and be able to order. So you’ll actually be confirmed after that.

I could be wrong but this is how my 24 Cayenne worked. They took my deposit but were very clear I did not have allocation till they received them after the announcement.

If you do talk to your dealer and this is not the case and they have allocations already, let me know. I need to ping my SA. I’m trying to secure a .2 GT3 as soon as possible

Thanks! I live in Switzerland and wouldn't have a problem sharing my contact but I'm afraid you live in the States... No?

Back to your question though. Take the GT3, that engine will be the last of its kind from an “affordability” stand point within the next 3-5 years, especially if it’s a manual.

High revving naturally aspirated manuals will be worth their weight in gold.

I dont get adding all lightweight option has anything to do with your choice. You do know the GT3 has a different engine and a different bespoke manual transmission right?

I own a decently spec'd GTS4 with the lightweight package (no carbon on the exterior) and absolutely love it. I'd go for the PDK version as I've done a few passes with both a manual and a PDK and just enjoyed the PDK much, much more.

I had a 992.1 GT3 touring that was a weekend car for me. I am done with weekend cars and really want to daily a 911 so I am waiting to spec a 992.2 GTS. For me the GTS makes more sense for a DD. I get the GT3 will hold its value better and is a more involved model, however I am intrigued with the hybrid GTS. Everytime I took the GT3 out for a ride I wind up behind slower moving cars or on winding roads with many blind spots and driveways. The car became a chore so back to the dealer it went.
If you want a fun weekend car I would go with the GT3 but for a DD I would go GTS.
