We'll meet at the Starbucks on Bernal Road, off of 101. Ron suggested a route that takes us out to the coast, to a nice restaurant for lunch. From there we can visit and raid Richard's place...

More details to come.

Thanks for the advance warning... I'll make sure the early warning system is active on th 5th..!

If you guys will come down the coast, then you will probably be coming down on Hwy 1 through Watsonville, and Moss Landing. I could meet up with you on Hwy 1 at "The Whole Enchilada" in moss Landing. I would need a time to expect you there... We could then all briskly cruise down to Big Sur, and go to The Ventana Inn for some grub etc. If the weather is good, we can sit on the patio outside and see for miles off the coast... Besides, the food is excellent..

Bill/Nicole, I'll PM you guys my phone # so we can coordinate a time....

Then again, I could come up to Bernal Rd... Hmmmmmmm...

You'll have to come to Bernal road, Richard. Because we won't be going the way you think... Can't say more here - don't want to alert any bears through a public forum.

I need to speak with Ron about what would be a good starting time for this route.

We will be meeting at the Starbucks on Bernal road

on March 5, 2006
at 8:30AM
Make sure you have a full tank of gas, or get gas there.

We plan to leave at 9:00AM

This will be a "self-guided" tour for all, not an organized fun drive. What that means is that you will get a hand-out with the suggested route, and you can the chose to follow others or do this at your own pace. You do the entire tour at your sole own risk.

We'll take some breaks inbetween, where we will try to meet up again with everyone who's on the tour. End point will be at the Naphenthe restaurant at Big Sur (Hiway 1), where we will meet for lunch.

Over the hills, through the meadows, across the stream, down the coast to Grandma's house...?

Now just a minute here! Be aware that we will be passing throughj an Army base and we would be well advised to stay together during that phase and to follow the instructions of the MPs. And after that stage we will encounter a twisty portion but we need to be careful to take the proper turnout from the Army base or we will end up in never never land (I mean who wants to go there? Not I said Ron_H) So I suggest we be a bit more organized, don't you?

Ron, that struck me as more of a disclaimer-type statement...

Also, IIRC a copy of insurance & reg will be required to pass through.

Yes, we cannot make this an official group fun drive for insurance reasons. That's why we will only hand out flyers with the self-guided tour to the restaurant.

That does not mean the participants can't voluntarily stay together as a group, and it does not say we cannot stop and "gather"....

The point is that participation is everybody's own responsibility. Please join, but drive safely and obey the traffic laws as well as wild four-legged furry animals with red and blue lights.

When we passed through last time, I don't recall anyone displaying either document. We waited while the first car passed the guard shack and then we were all waved through. Remember the limit on the base.
