LOL.........they made what, a dozen of those cars?
A 928GT would own a production 968 or 951 of any year.

Why are we arguing THIS? To each his own!
It is a matter of personal preference. I really loved my 924, except it was not as pretty as my 928s. The 944/951/968 are great cars as well, just not for me. I can't get over the exposed bumpers and "greenhouse hatches". But that is just "my" personal preferences.

Lets see, list doesn't look too bad even when 944 CUP is added comparing stock vs. stock, all ROW cars of course:
Now if we include 928 CUP it has better kg/hp than 944 CUP.
Modified vs. modified is interesting also. We know it's possible to get 928 down to under 1300 kg and 750 hp out of rhe engine with twin turbos. AFAIK both conditions haven't met in one single car yet. But it's perfectly doable and only matter of time. 1140/533 = 2.14 for 951 and 1300/750 = 1,73 for some future 928. 951 would need over 650 hp to be on same kg/hp level then. Possibly doable but then so is 1000 hp 928.

I just wanted to make sure here that I didnt get any slack for someone else saying anything bad about you guys. I am pro-Shark baby!
For those of you who haven't seen my car, you can visit my web site. It's such ashame it was taken from me, especially after 2 very long years of working on it, the money invested, but more so because it was the car I always dreamed of building up. Also, we were very close to raising the bar on it's performance level too, dammit! You can visit it at www.robertricciardi.com
SharkSkin: Thanks for the compliment too. "If" I ever do get a Shark, I would build it up big time!
Cheers,
Rob

Not odd at all really since it only lists ROW models. 968 Turbo's, 944 Cup and 928 CS were all ROW only. It's true list is missing '86 MY 32V ROW S. If one would make US only list it would be even better for 928 as GT and GTS would be on top I believe. Considering door bars, bumper shocks, catalytic converters and other emission equipment weight about the same for all models 928 will probably have larger margin compared to 951's.

I'm not throwing gas on the fire here, but at least the 951 guys seem a LOT more willing to prove their mettle on the track and at DE's than the 928 guys do. In my experience here in the midwest, its a pretty rare day that you see anyone in a 928 on the track, much less passing anybody. By comparison, there are usually about as many 951's as there are 911's at the local DE's. I'm not saying that the 928 isn't capable of it, but you sure don't see many doing it.
928's are a unique experience, and exude more "Porscheness" than the 944/968's do, but I can honestly say (in my opinion, at least) that both cars will get you to your destination in equal style. For all the "mine's faster than yours" bantering going on between the two forums now, I will promise that the driver makes a much bigger difference than the car does, at least on the track. I've driven both models enough to say that I really think the lighter weight of the 951 makes it a lot easier to drive faster on the track than any hp advantage a 928 can have, but it boils down to how the driver uses the capabilities of the car. Its a good bit easier (again, in my opinion) to make a 951 "overacheive" than it is a 928. Ask some of the 911 track guys who have been steamrolled by a run of the mill 951, they usually aren't happy about it. Ask, at the same time, how many times they've been passed by a 928...
Most 928 owners feel isolated, even within the Porsche community. If you think its bad for 928 owners, try owning a 968 sometime... you'd amazed at how often I hear "what the heck is that" or "never heard of it before". Trust me, we are much closer related to each other than y'all think! lol
I like (and own) both, so I think I can speak with some authority on the subject. We'd be a lot better off fighting the vette's, vipers and stangs than we would be by dividing our own house.
Regards,
