Default yet another one bashing the 928...

Hi Rob, nice to hear from you. 1st., I want to say that a 928 project is dumb, might is well get a SS silverado truck or a turbo hummer because the sharks are heavy and ugly as hell. No one that has owned a 951, in his right mind would buy a 928. 2nd. How much are you expecting to get from the insurance can you disclose the agreed amount?

Oddly enough, earlier today a local storeowner who proudly displays his beautiful black hardtop boxster S outside his shop sent one of his employees running out the door to approach me sitting at a redlight, asking if i wanted to sell, cash on the spot.

Apparently, according to the employee, the shop owner drools when he hears/sees me drive by his store every day and always comments about how awesome the car sounds and looks.

I immediately declined the offer to sell. I can get money anywhere, but a freakishly fast classic 928S in very good overall shape?

Now THAT'S worth hanging on to.

Anyone that doesn't 'get' 928s is more than welcome to take a ride in mine.

Porsche 928....there is no substitute(for under 70 grand!).

Well, different strokes for different folks. If they are too stupid/lazy to actually sit down in a 928 and drive it around the block before they make ignorant comments then it simply makes it easier from a financial sense for us to enjoy our hobby.

I was pulled over by a Texas Highway Patrol on my way back from Vegas.
Turns out the officer is in the market for a Porsche and just loved the way the shark looked and sounded as I was going by

Kind of a hassle but much better than a ticket

Before y'all get worked up, just know that was just ONE person's comments, and that person is suspected of being a few bricks short of a full load by a lot of us on the 951 boards. There are WAY more 951 owners that have plenty of respect for 928's than share Larts opinion about them. Generally speaking, we 951 owners view 928 owners as kindred spirits and brethern.

After spending the last two nights working on my wife's '82, I will be happy to tell you which one I would rather buy parts for, tho... lol

Well said....afterall we are all in the "wasserpumper front engine" club....hence the old school air cooled 911 guys don't like us.....but they also hated the 996 too! Sure I prefer 928's....but a modded 951 is a wicked ride too!

I've been following that thread for 3 weeks, and this stuff cropped up. I can't get worked up over someone's taste in cars, when they proudly display a Camry in their sig line. Shane makes an excellent point too, but it's Rob who's eyeballing the 928 -- After seeing his 951, I'd love to see what he would do to a shark!

I used to get that in my Grand National all the time. Cops friggin' loved that car, i was easily pulled over 2-3x a year so a cop could gawk and shoot shiit for every year i owned it.

I must admit, that's kinda cool.

The 928 is such a wicked car. You can get huge power out of these mosnter v8 N/A.
I have seen what a 928 race car can do,and yes they are great on the track. Good handling, once I had the chance of driving a 928 on the track, the car was somewhat fast and very luxurious. But after having driven a 951, I am completely sure of the fact that the 944 Turbo handles much better, stops better, is superior in speed and can be made much faster with less money, pound per pound dollar per dollar the 951 wins. sorry but I am bias to the 951. lol.

There's no question 951 can be made fast with less $$$$ than 928. Starting price alone dictates that. But with more $$$$ to spend 928 can be made faster than 951. Proof is out there on US roads. it's just so rare sight most 951 owners haven't seen or heard about it. Because of this some 951 owners seem to think such animal do not exist at all.

They are both fine cars. Pick your poison. Just don't pick on mine please.
I wouldn't mind one of each and a few others as well. I would rather talk about why they are all so great, as opposed to why one sucks. Don't make me kick your butt with my YUGO, Hugo.

I will race ANY 928 with the proper Porsche engine - any mod level.
