Andrew,
It is possible that your oil level is too high, and I hope that is your issue.
If the problem persists after addressing the breather, then you know where to look next.

Greg

If there was enough interest, I could have this all drawn up and have a metal fab shop cut it and bend it and then Todd weld it. If we made them in lots of 5 or 10 the price might not be too bad. I was tired of dealing with the problem so I was willing to pay the piper to get it fixed and move on. I'm guessing the price would be 3+ times the price of a Provent which Dave sells for $125 (that's a lot better deal than what I paid for my Provent). If that doesn't scare everyone then I would be willing to put some time into getting a firmer price.

Andrew,
I get just a bit of weeping, nothing significant, out of the vent screw/bolt, but I have always kept my fluid just a tad over the add line, never near the full line.

Ive always had a very small amount of residue on the snout near the "vent bolt"..no biggy at all. I just checked the oil in mine the other day and its fine. In the 2yrs ive had mine ive only had to add a little oil ..and only once!!
At higher boost levels the "air" can get past the seals in the casing and make its way into the snout area , when it does this it can take some of the oil in the casing with it...from there it can seep/leak out of the "vent/ bolt". BTW..There is NO oiling present in the snout itself, only the casing. If it is excessive, you may have a bad seal..it really shouldnt have anything to do with the oil level in the casing.
I think Kenne bell sells a breather system for the vent that runs back to the casing? I know the Cobras guys use them at higher boost levels.
Is the power still good? Perhaps you have a leak in you boost gauge line?

As always, thanks for your input!
I'll see if I can find the breather system from Kenne Bell.
As for a possible leak, I fianally dug out my mity vac (had trouble finding all the littel bits) and checked for leaks last weekend. Everything was solid! No change in vacuum after 15 min. So I think I'm good there.
Including your account, it sounds like I probably just have too much oil in the system. I'll try sucking some out tonight and see where that goes.

Kenne Bell Snout Breather Bolt
I've asked this before, but still having concerns.
I'm getting an excessive amount of oil spitting out around the snout (breather) bolt. It seems to only happen during boost, which is every time I drive her
Has anyone having/had this problem? What would happen if I plug the hole?

Well last night I decided to put in fresh oil int he super charger (Redline 50wt race oil) and kept it down to the 1st fill line. I hooked up my oil diverter (a rubber 90* elbow and some hose) just in case there is any excessive oil coming out. BTW, I couldn't find the breather Tony referred to. If anyone finds it, please let me know.
I think this has been my problem all along (oil contaminating the belt)! Sure as ****, I got full boost (7.5-7.9)throughout the RPM range! Unfortunately, since I haven't replaced the clutch yet... it slipped like my flywheel was made of ice! D'oh!
Guess what my next project is?

Strange you should metion this, because I too noticed a coating of oil inside the manifold. It was also in the the intake adapter at the rear of the SC unit. I am puzzled by this too. It does not appear to be coming from the air filter (K&N oil) because the track is clean further up. So, somehow it is blowing back from the heads through the SC or the SC bypass. Or what else? Bizarre. Makes no sense to me. Anyone else?
I don't know the source of the rubber injector boot that Andy used. Nice to know thery are not tolerating fuel too well. Mine still look OK, but we do need a source or an alternative. Mike S?

Unfortunately, as stated above, they don't seem to be rated for fuel/oil. I noticed that mine were a little hard after replacing them around 10K miles, but they weren't the source of any leaks. I might have one of the original bags that these things came in.... but it'll take me a while to find it (stored away in a box from a move I did last year)
I'm going to try poking around a little on the site... i'll let you guys know if i come up with anything.

BTW, the "oil" inside the manifold proved to be fuel residue.
My injector to manifold adapter boots are still in very good shape after 2 years, so I am going to reuse them when I reinstall the SC in a few weeks.
