Nice pic's Tony
Darien, do you remember what brand the digital ones are are? Are they mechanical or use a separate MAP sensor?

"You can also dump it to the exhaus stream and actually, with the quality of the seperator, i think you could dump it right back into the intake track with out much worry."

To this pont no oil has gotten that far to need seperating
From the bottom of the seperator you can drain it to the front of the oil pan if you like, there is a convenient access cover there, or you can tap to the oil dip stick i suppose?....but in all honeslty such little oil comes out it isnt worth it! Run a long line towards the ground where you can see anythng drip if you left the car parked.
DR probably has a good pic of the whole seprator assembly.
I took the removable cover of and looked at the filter and it was still white as snow after several 100 miles of

For street use these set ups work fine. If your on the track whipping aorund corners under WOT doing DE's, who knows? I dont do that any more in my car...BTDT after i bought it.

Thanks for the info.

I was looking at the same place to drain the oil back. That location was used in the 16V engines but when the 32Vs came out it was just blocked off with a plate.

My home made separator is similar in design but my block venting points are different and this causes oil to collect in the can. Now with these pictures I can finally relocate the venting lines and minimize the oil blow by.

Thanks!

The boost line comes off the manifold then leads to a sensor. From there the wires lead into the cab to the gauge. I cant recall the brand myself..Darien will chime in.

In all honesty i LOVE the autometer guages i have. Z SERIES. the look is as close to the stock instrumentation as you can get...white numbers, orange needles on Black. After you have driven your car for a while you will find you dont look at them very much...the car is sorted and the "novelty" of them wears off. When setting things up you want them easily viewable, quick to respond and accurate.
I have mine all lined up under the steering wheel pasenger tray now..boost, fule pressure, AFR, oil temp, tranny temp, water temp and a blue illuminated switch for my I/C so i know when it is running and i can turn it off. Its done a similar fashion that I did Darriens. His are in the passenger parcel tray. I have a MOMO wheel and my height and seating postion allows me to see them very easily when i need to...fact is, i dont need to anymore so i have them mounted out of "normal" sight if someonme were to look in the car.

If i had a magic wand or dedicated some time to it, i would have small digital numeric read outs for each system...fuel,boost,AFR. side by side and skinny enough that when not needed they coulds slide DOWN into the in the defroster vent on top of the dash : If needed, reach up and slide them up into view

Dave, where would you install this on a 78? I've looked and it seems like there are not a lot of options...

The location Tony used for Darien's 928 (see pcs at post #762) should work for your 79 also.

Well, that basically answers my "Digital or analog" question about the gauges for my cars. Thanks for that real time test.

They are all Cyberdyne gauges. They look nice, but at night, the inside glows Red I need to install some tint to tone them down.

I'm loving it A little too much Almost cost me a huge speeding ticket two nights ago. Going down the on-ramp to access the highway, of course I can't let the cars on the highway get in front, so I drop it second and let her rip . Unfortunately, it was dark out and I didn't see the cop. So he immediately pulls me over and let me know I was doing 90 mph down the ramp and the ticket would cost @1200 bucs I was in uniform so he asked what was my rank and then told me a story how an Air Force bubba saved his career years ago, so he let me off It blew me away

Brendan,

>Well, that basically answers my "Digital or analog" question about the gauges for my cars. Thanks for that real time test.

Don't be too quick to judge that, I have the opposite situation. My Digitals are quicker (and more accurate) than my analogs, BUT the digitals I use are more costly than the analogs used so that could be a factor (and from different manufacturers). I think this will vary from manufacturer to manufacturer, but in Darien's case of the same brand it is very good information.
