This was my first 928 event and I had a great time. I can't wait until next year when I should have a running 928 of my own to drive.

Dave and Jeannie were amazing hosts. Everything seemed to go smoothly. I know we drove them and Wally crazy asking questions constantly. I hope clearing out half of their inventory partially makes up for the aggrevation.

Rixter was nice enough to let me ride shotgun in his new S4. I really have to get a set of sport seats! When my camera batteries died, he let me use his camera to snap a lot of pictures.

I talked to John Kuhn for hours about turbo systems. He answered all of my questions and shared many of his experiences with designing and building his system. We walked around for half an hour under Tom Falkenberg's car discussing different components and placement. Tim Murphy was also eagerly sharing information about his system.

Since I didn't have a 928 there to work on, I tried to help out getting parts and information for those working on their cars. When that picture of Tarek was taken, Brad (checkmate1996) was just to the left getting his exhaust system welded back together. Rixter posted a picture of himself upsidedown removing David's (I forget his last name, from Louisiana) pod to install a new ignition switch in an attempt to fix the no start problem Wally mentioned.

There is one thing Wally didn't mention about the boiled over brakes incident. After Jay Kempf dropped off that can of Super Blue, he said he'd be right back, turned around, and went back to the top to do it all over again!

Phil, that's too bad about your deer strike. At least it looks like all you need is a fender, hood (maybe?), windshield, and headlight. That makes three accidents for the weekend including the cobalt car into the guardrail (fender damage only) and Eric in the Samantha's falsengrun car into the tree (probably paintless dent removal candidate.

Congratualations Hans and Katie! Now you need a second 928 for a his and hers pair.

Thumbs up SITM WAS GREAT!!!!

Just got home, 928 mi run and yes it was 928.
Junny law stopped me 500 ft from my house, he said that I did not use
my sigle light (he's full of it).
The entire weekend was a super great time.
Meeting all the people of RENNLIST and more was super, meeting new
friends and seeing old ones makes for even more fun.

Andy,
Funny cop story...

Jay Kempf and I got stopped on our way 'back' to DR's sunday night. At about 30 miles out of Spruce Pine, we had what we thought was a bad rear wheel bearing, thumping like a fiend. We're crawling along at 20 mph, YES 20, in a 45 zone when this young guy coming the other direction does a U'y and hits the lights/sirens.
He kinda laughed at us when we told him what the deal was.

So this is sort of a milestone for the ol' BRP gang...no tickets, no hangovers, no roadkill beagles and two cars flatbedded. Oh well, maybe next year.

Hey everone!

Got back Sunday night around 9:00pm...after waking up around noonish on Sunday. The late welding repair job, and checkvalve replacement stretched into the evening and really cut into my beer drinking time....but alas we made it home with no incident!!!

Special thanks to Dave and Jeannie who are very gracious hosts, and I mean gracious. They really know how to develop a relationship beyond just being a number. (Thanks again Dave for letting me borrow your welder!) Special thanks to "Todd" the welder. He's not on rennlist but should be. He got my tailpipe welded back on within an hour. Also. special thanks to Drew peelman who had some extra fuel line wrenches to help get the checkvalve replaced.

I finally got to meeet Rixter, Big Dave, Andrew Olson, Flying Dog, Tony, Greg Nichols, Tom F, Marl Silver, Chris, Ray, Todd & Lance (Nascar dudes) and a host of other great guys. Thanks to everyone for making it enjoyable!

Finally, a very special thanks to mother nature for holding up!!

Andrew...Tony...Big Dave- All these people I've met and where the hell is Normy?

-May 31'st I land in Anchorage. I call scheduling, and get "Evil Eve" on the phone. Guess what? Normy's going to Denver on the 4th and 5th for recurrent training. I'm senior in my seat, but the later sim sessions this month are taken-I'm screwed!

OK. The 3rd, I'm home. Debbie drives me to the airport in her van; as I ride with her, I look at the paper I printed out from scheduling. I note the time of the flight, and the number. Then I realize that this flight is out of Orlando.

[problem: Orlando is 225 miles away, and it is now less than two hours till departure time!]

Skidding halt. Aerostar van on the side of the road, me cursing, pounding Ford's silly rubber dashboard.

"Well, what do you want to do?"? She says. I don't know- lets just get the hell home. I haven't lived in Orlando for 6 months, so this is their f*ckup. In the end, after calling them, they decided, after several hours of deliberation...that I could wait until next month. I'm not due for recurrent until then ANYWAY- !

::sound of Tony pounding the desk::

-Me too. So, I MISSED SITM this year because 1. Scheduling decided to screw me, without lube, and 2. Scheduling decided to be stupid and not check their computer. I'm not sure which I'm more pissed off about!

Growl!!

Anyway, you can be sure my mom is just as pissed. She's been after me for weeks, asking about the "Sharks Thang"- Guess I'll have to wait until next year....

N!

PS: I'm fed up with missing 928 functions. Sharktoberfest here the f*ck I come!

Normy, sorry you missed a great time. I met so many great people over the weekend. Dave, Jeannie, and Wally are the best hands down! I'm pretty sure the wife won't be going next year. Between the high speed turns (and I took it easy for her) and the fog Friday on BRP I think she had enough.

Greg and Ron were like two school kids talking about their drive following Dave to dinner. It was great. Greg G. and I grew up in the same neighborhood in CT. I haven't seen him in over 25 years! We had a great time and I look forward to seeing him this summer. I take my hat off to him! Allot of the turns were a handful with two hands! We had a blast in the twisties.

I was behind Eric (in Sam's car) going to DR's after dinner when I saw flames shooting out his exhaust, then I noticed the blacktop glowing under the cat as we drove. That baby was red hot! As traffic cleared I was able to get beside him and let him know so we pulled over. Wally pulled over and diagnosed the coil wire in minutes. Just long enought for me to make Sam a rum and coke! She needed it pretty bad!

There are so many helpful people it is assuring that if you have a problem there is someone to help.

Larry was at the right place to have the computer fail! Dave R. gave him his out of the GT to get home!

Great group, great time, next year will be my fourth!

1: Dave and Jeannie's GT with the new "True Black Chrome Powdercoated" Kinesis K28Rs
2: Samantha's Concours winning Iris GTS
3: So many wheels to choose from...
4: Rixter's new S4 pulling into the Best Western Sunday morning before heading to Dave and Jeannie's.

Unfortunately my camera flaked out even before the batteries died so I only have about 60 pictures of the 80 or so I took.

Had a blast at SITM. Spent the day dodging errant drivers
heading from Washington DC to NYC. The big-rig drivers did great this year.
Real pros. Let me by as soon as traffic cleared.

I was the following car to the Chicago boys in their blue shark that made friends with guardrail. The Chicago boys was coming up on one of those decreasing radii hairpins
and had to go wide from oncoming traffic riding the centerline.
They got onto the "marbles" (loose gravel) and started drifting real wide.
Front end of the 928 washes out wider and wider. I'm in the car trying some
body english to get the leading blue shark to turn. I then hear that gut-wrenching
crunch as shark tags guardrail.

Chris the Marine had the waterpump failure. Was a metal impeller unit with
polished vanes. Pump impeller had scored the block when the bearing failed.
Was told by Tom Falkenburg that the plastic impeller water pumps are the way
to go for those just in case situations. Plastic impeller vanes don't eat block.

2 pics. (Apple for teacher. )

Ernest (NYC)
Finally got to meet the other Ernest.
Was fun hanging with the Texas contingent.

Thanks Glenn for that drink Wow, did I need it after that last incident! I don't even want to think about what would have happened if you hadn't pulled Eric over when you did. THANK YOU!!! I still cannot believe all the people who stopped to help either - It was amazing! Thanks to all of you!!!

Time for me to start posting some pics.

Lets start with Friday night at the Best Western (the hotel formerly known as the Banner Elk Hoilday Inn)

Here's Ron, John and Dave are BS'ing each other about lord knows what.

Note the trashcan. A few of us were sitting out there like a bunch of hillbillies drinking beer till about 1:00am

(I still have 6 of your Beck's J.E)

Glenn,
It was nice meeting you and your wife. I can't seem to remove the grin from my face.
Gregs car is hitting on all 8. Talk about running extremely well/fast. Coming out of the turns the way he did was impressive. Hope to see you next year.

Wow!!! Dave and Jeannie, what a great event,

THANK YOU and also to all the great people we met.

Zane (my wife) is hooked, she is already looking at a Euro 5 speed to add to the stable.

Jim, Ernie & Pam plus Zane and I just arrived back in DFW about an hour ago.
What a blast.

More tomorrow when I wake up.

Many thanks of course to all the great people who worked to put SITM together. A special thanks to everybody who helped me when my fuel pump stuck out on Rte. 81 in VA.
928ers are the best people I have met anywhere.

1. Dave C. and myself in PA, underway.
2.Jim Mayzurk's nice GTS
3. Roger Tyson and wife Zane in his nice GTS
4. Sharks on the mountain
