Wanted to thank Dave and Jeannie and the staff at 928 Specialists for an awesome 2005 Sharks in the Mountain! Also wanted to thank everyone else for making this a great first time experience...definitely looking forward to next years event!

Here are some of my favorite shots of the event - everyone feel free to add their pics to this thread too - I don't have any of Saturday night at Dave and Jeannies - wish I had remembered to get a few shots of all of those 928's crammed onto their front lawn!

That dent was from a tree. Another car tagged a guard rail. Neither one is a major repair.

For some reason I can't unload the pictures from my camera. I'm sure plenty of beautiful pictures will be posted.

Just got back home from SITM, a spirited 560 miles from Dave and Jeannie's place. Thank you guys, it was a great time. If you haven't done SITM, you absolutely HAVE TO!!! Dave and Jeannie are gracious hosts and it's growing each year!! See ya next year.

well it's 10:30 and I am at last home (unfortunately)..
I wanted to take a minute for some of my thoughts, pics and personal notes from another great weekend. I apologize if I get long winded.

Dave, Jeannnie.. you continue to amaze me with everything you do for the 928 community, your dedicated customer service, development and generosity always make me feel grateful to know you

I picked up the 88 S4 Friday afternoon about 80 miles from Spruce Pine and drove right over taunting fate... the car is SO different from the obs .... during the BRP ride I got WAY over aggresive with the power and braking, boiled my brake fluid and lost brakes hauling butt downhill thru the twisties
after managing to actually get her stopped without any damage to the car Wally (bless you sir) got the brakes rebled on the side of the road and I was able to continue to the end (for some reason no one wanted to ride in front of me after that) only damage was Wally getting burn blisters on his fingers from the brakes
THANKS TO EVERYONE WHO STOPPED AND HELPED!!!

Dinner was great!! appeared we took over the parking lots of 4 local businesses. and throwing the locals for a loop

after dinner tech sessions were killer... after D and J FINALLY kicked us out at 2:30am we grabbed a few hours sleep and were back at it by 9am ... I only wish I could have taped all the different things that were done to the cars.. a DIYers heaven

Mark Silver and I got back to Raleigh safely and the new car had no problems coming home

It was awesome seeing everyone again and can't wait till Frenzy.. I hope you all got home safely.

Like Glen, we just got back to Detroit. My camera went on the fritz Friday, but I managed to snap a few with Andrew Olson's camera. I'm sure we'll get them up soon.

It was GREAT meeting soooooo many people! It was actually kind of funny that we started saying our screen names after our real names so people would know who were were.

Fantastic time. I loved it!!!

1230am monday local and Im now in LA. 5hr drive...4:40 flight..now Im on call at 5am. Whirlwind 3 days as they always seem to be but always worth the trip out.. Friday night was a bit of a blur and slur..self induced of course. .... but waking up to the cool fresh mountain air is always a treat.
Truely a great area for hosting the event and one that is hosted by truely wonderful people and attend by a great group of enthuesiests. The Roberts's opened up their house and garage and attendees opend up their cars..in more ways than one!
Besides seeing familiar faces and a few new ones, the high light of the trip for me was probably riding shotgun with Andrew on the fun drive down to the restruant. I dont know who was having more fun, Andrew driving or me watching him. It was nice to be able to navigate for him as you can get split up from a group now and then. It makes the driving much easier to concentrate on when it happens. Thanks Andrew.
Your surgery is scheduled for wednesday to remove the permagrin...mine is scheduled thursday to remove the passenger side seat cushion

Dropped John off at the Airport this AM. Got back into town at 10:00 last night. Then had a late dinner. Down for the count by 12:00AM. Back up at 4:30 this AM. 1,100 miles logged in three days. Where is the smiley face with the shark flogging big grin and completely exhausted?

My first Sharks in the Mountains was a great experience. I met many fine people who were generious with their advice. And, except for the $550 dollar offer for my car, I had a great time. I left Dave and jeannies at 11:30 for a drive to Durham to visit a cousin who I could not find and finally just drove back to Maryland arriving at 8:30PM. The 928 is a great road car and very comforable. Got almost 20mpg. The broken speedometer worked for most of the trip back. I've only owned the car for three weeks and feel I made the right choice for my 85 Guards red auto. Comparing the 911SC I own to the 928 is not possible. They are different, not better nor worse. I plan to keep them both. I hope everyone arrived safely.

Oh.....I want to thank the guy in the 86.5 Guards Red 928S who took a bullet for me yesterday on the way to Dave and Jeannie's place. Sorry you got the ticket. Nice car. Polished Phone dials. Nice.

Thanks to John's V1, another ticketless year. Really didn't see too many police this year though.

I got home at 1am last night. No car problems whatsoever. SITM was awesome. Putting a face to the names was worth the trip by it's self. My favorite part of the weekend was the ride to dinner. DR was the lead car since he knew where we were going. I was behind him and Greg (goodspeed) was behind me. We pulled out of the park as a group and stayed together probably until the first twistie. That's when it got interesting. DR knowing the road and driving the 85 5spd euro that is totally set up got it going. It wasn't long before we got seperated from the pack. It never got crazy. Spirited is a better word. Not knowing the road made it hair raising for Greg & I. I figured the best place to be was as close to DR as possible. I guess Greg thought the same thing as I saw him in my back seat a few times. I think I even heard him ask me if I wanted him to drive. This is a man (Greg) who with the use of only one arm NEVER got left behind. He made the ride enjoyable for me. Everytime we came out of a twistie DR & I would accellerate up to the next set of twists. Not Greg, he would come out of a turn and it was ***** to the wall with the pedal glued to the floor. The first couple of times I thought he was just getting used to the run. That was not the case here. That's really how he drives. Coming out of a twistie I'd look in my rearview and see Greg fly up on me, get sooooo close I could see his teeth (from the **** eating smile that was plastered) on his face. During the ride we came across a bicyclist. We passed him without inceident but I kept an eye on Greg. We pulled over a ways up to regroup. The bike rider passed us. I figured not good. Greg has a second shot to take him out. he he he Then out of another twistie we had some senior citizens in an old benz pull out of their driveway. DR hits his brakes, I brake, we go around them and it was time to look in my mirror. Oh yes, Mr. ***** to the wall flies around them never hitting his brakes until he was in my back seat (again). It wasn't long before we pulled over again to regroup. This is when I walked up to DR's car to find out he had Thor ( his german shepard) in the passenger seat. He too was driving with one hand. He was holding Thor with the other so he wouldn't fly out the pass side window. The group caught up and we drove the rest of the way to the restaurant somewhat together. It was a great ride. I'm already looking forward to next year. Meeting everyone is right up there with the ride. The DTW crew, Big Dave, Andrew, Dennis, Glen etc. I'll be typing all day just list all the names of everyone I met.

A special thanks to DR & Jeannie and all those involved in making this years SITM a first class event.

Greg . . . His driving shows no signs of him having any disabilities. I'm not saying he doesn't have any mental issues. But that's for another time BTW, next year i'm bringing my brother because I refuse to be bullied like that again.

BigDave gets 'guru' honors for stepping way outside his comfort zone and flogging his beast. It leaked a little antifreeze and oil, but made the whole journey without too much issue.

Tony! What can I say. I was my pleasure to have you as First Officer on my 928. Not only are you a really fun guy, but you did a superb job at navigating! You really helped make this event that much more enjoyable as all I had to do was concentrate on not hitting the car in front of me or the guard-rail. I owe you big time! And before I forget, can you email me the G-tech data? What did we hit for lateral g's? Was it 0.83 or 0.86? What ever it was, it was respectable for my OB. That NOS really helps these OB's, doesn't it? ARM1 will be installed tonight hopefully. I've gone ahead and canceled the surgery, as I don't want that grin to leave me for at least a few weeks. Besides I need the sunburn to heal first .

It was a pleasure meeting everyone. Too many names to name and I'm afraid to leave anyone out, so you know who you are. Hope to see you all next year.

I can't upload the pics here at work easily, so I'll try and get them up during lunch (offsite). So look for them then.

Just a few pics. DR with the new 928 Spec. Modular X-Pipe, Jeannie w/ the new 928 Spec. Stiff Frt. Sway Bar, Big Dave get an award for excellence, the temp repaired S4 not looking too bad for having taken a 30MPH hit (ran like a champ).

Before I forget, I've got to tell a fun story from lunch on Friday. A group of about 6 of us met at a restaurant down the road from the hotel. Dennis ('82 Weissach) was telling the whole group how his car has a slight vibration at around 80 mph. He then proudly told us all (loudly) that the vibration went away over 100mph.

I motioned for him to turn around.

Sitting behind him also having lunch was a cop. So Dennis told him "don't worry....I didn't do it in North Carolina."

I had a BLAST! After the trip down, my worries about the engine melted away. A slow oil leak and some coolant (all easy fixes) didn't stop me from flogging the hell out of my shark up and down the mountain. I did almost crap myself when I got a belt tension light right before we pulled up to the Little Sienna restaurant for dinner. 1/4 turn on the tensioner and all was well. I guess 900 miles on a new belt and some very aggressive hill-climbing made it stretch a bit.

Ron, Greg, Glen, Rixter, Tony, Dave, Jeannie, Ernest, Patrick, Jack, Rob, John, Chris.....too many to list! It was great meeting/seeing all of you. I hope to do it again soon!!!!
