I really don't know. I just did 60 - 100 in 4 seconds flat, twice, with a buddy in the shark and a full tank of gas. I did the run in 3rd, fyi I hit the rec limiter @ 102.

Maybe I should read the post more carefully.

are you starting at 60 to avoid wheel spin?

No. Wheel spin is not a big problem. With the PSD and 10" proxies it hooks up pretty well. I had a friend with me and some open highway so he timed it with his fancy watch. He thinks he stopped it just a hair late both times so I really think it is just under 4 seconds. The rev limiter scared the **** out of both of us on the first run.

Remember it isn't zero power ... it's on-off on-off pulsating about 3 times a sec!!! Enopugh to make one's little round things float all the way to one's cheeks.....

From Mark Kibort, a few eons ago in a post far, far away ...

0-35 35-40 40-60 60-75 75-96 96-105mph
2sec 1sec 3 sec 2 sec 3sec 3 sec (Given 6seconds 0-60 8secs 60-105 or 7seconds 60-100mph)

and (for GT):
6 second 0-60, 6 seconds 60-100mph)
Not necessarily empirical data but maybe correct....

Excellent performance data.

This is much easier to use than a standing start and MUCH less abusive to the driveline. Traction with the GT is tough on anything other than drag radials in the lower gears. I think on the 993turbo board, they were doing 60 to 130 runs. Maybe we could start something similar here. Definitely avoid the rev limiter-it comes up VERY fast.

After I get my cam covers back from powder coating and reinstalled, I'll try to do the same. It could be fun to see how supercharged, stroked, and stock 928's perform vs the 911 turbos (stock and modified versions).

I'm sure Tony has some info on this with his high tech G-tech Pro. THere may be info in one of his previous posts... there is. From this thread.

This was one of Tony's runs. Looks to be about 5 sec. from 60 to 100 (on the green line).

Apparently 60-130 is the new benchmark for performance cars. Although the 930 they posted was so damn fast (800rwhp) that the speedo looked like a tach at the rate it climbed from 60-140. They were using a running start with a video camera watching the speedo and then timing it later. Problem is doing the test without loosing your license.

I do hate to say it, although the 928 is a very fast car. My 3.6T would make the stock GTS look like it is going backwards from 60-130. The only way you will out accelerate most turbos is if you catch the driver off boost in a straight line. Sorry

Anthony,

Luckily, some of us no longer have the keys to stock 928.

Sorry Tony... should have looked more closely. I'm sure you must have some "theoretical" data somewhere, don't you? C'mon Tony, fess up.
