This is my current planned route for Sharks in the Badlands (aka "See How Great America Is")

Currently, 5955 miles with the following planned for stops:

A to B - Jacksonville, FL to Birmingham, AL (Saturday - July 11th) - 478 miles
B to C - Birmingham, AL to Tulsa, OK (Sunday - July 12th) - 649 miles
C to D - Tulsa, OK to Dodge City, KS (Monday - July 13th) - 331 miles
D to E - Dodge City, KS to Boulder, CO (Tuesday - July 14th and drive around CO on Wednesday July 15th) 403 miles plus whatever sight seeing I do locally (200ish miles)
E to F - Boulder, CO to Rapid City, SD (Thursday - July 16th) 380 miles
F to G - Rapid City, SD to Great Falls, MT (Sunday - July 19th) 540 miles
G to H - Great Falls to Missoula (Monday - July 20th) 165 miles
H to I - Missoula to Bozeman (Monday - July 20th) 202 miles
I to J - Bozeman to West Yellowstone (Monday - July 20th) 88 miles
J to K - West Yellowstone, MT to Salt Lake City, UT (Tuesday - July 21st) 320 miles
K to L - Salt Lake City, UT to Jacksonville, FL (Wednesday July 22nd to Sunday July 26th) 2394 miles

K to L will probably see stops in Nebraska, Kentucky, North Carolina (probably layover for a day in Banner Elk - normal home of SITM)

Rationale for this long of a trip:

- I'll never be this young again!
- I'm seriously over COVID and our news cycles - just need to clear my head
- My 1988 Black Witch is a nice looking driver with high miles (approaching 200K) so 6K more miles doesn't bother me. Any outstanding maintenance items will be up-to-date by the time of the trip. I'm the second owner of the car and it's extensive maintenance was well documented.
- I'm very confident in my car and more confident in my ability to be resourceful if needed. AAA, Credit Card and Internet
- I likely won't drive through these areas again (at least all at once, unless there is an RV in my future)
- It's about the only way I'm going to drive a car this year
- I fly over most of these places annually but I want to put some rubber on the road.
- I have a fairly obnoxious accrued time off balance at my work and July is a dead month for us generally.

Anyhow call me crazy, if you like .... I honestly cannot wait.

BTW - I found this cool site - America's Scenic Byways and I plan on picking up 1 or 2 of these scenic byways in each leg of the trip.

Looks like an awesome route. Do it! I wish I could.

Plus, I would almost guarantee you the prize for most miles traveled to a 928 event!

Kinda hard to judge that one.
Do you start milage from home garage or last Attraction you visited ?
A true journey your taking enjoy it. Like you said why not.
No better time than now.
Just keep hearing the lyrics,
Would they think I'm crazy going to LA via Omaha

I will invite you to change the route a little bit. From SLC you should go south on I15 to Spanish Fork, then East on Hwy US 6 to Green River UT, then I70 to Grand Junction Co where we could get together for a bit or over night, and you can rummage, kind of, through or at my mess, then on to Denver and East on I70 to KC and pick up your original route. I could even put you up over night at my house.

I sure would take Jerry up on his offer to hang out. His place is a treasure trove to behold!

Stay off I-80 as Jerry suggests. Truckers are racing each other at 60 mph GPS controlled rigs and pull out right in front of you for fun. Come to Denver and we can meet up as well from a safe distance.

Yes, and it is all still there and much more. Come see the Radical Custom 928 in progress and in real life.

We here in the Rocky Mountain Shark country (centered in the Colorado Rockies, but not limited thereto) are putting together a contingency of 928ers to all possibly caravan there from Denver on Friday the 17th. I think we have 6 or 7 928s signed up and registered so far. We are tryin hard to get more of our club involved and hope the hotel will still be available. Some of our guys are not on Rennlist, but we have not been promoting this event on the Rocky Mountain Sharks Yahoo forum until just lately. Our bad. But here we come.

Yesterday I put together my small package of about 20 door prizes for the drawing. By the way, a door prize drawing is not a raffle. A raffle is rare because it usually takes a permit from the state and to qualify the organization must have some longevity and some kind of charitable purpose for a long time. My door prizes will not be based on a raffle. My door prizes will not involve any of my 928 products.

By the way, is anyone else bringing door prizes??? I think one of the requirements for these kind of events ought to be that you bring at least one item for a door prize. Just me. Jerry Feather

I'm still not sure of my plans yet but I hope to go. I live near Denver and can meet up with the Rocky Mountain group. I'll take a look on Yahoo.

These are just door prizes. I removed the raffle part. Yes I know of another person that is bringing some door prizes.

Default Hotel is still honoring the discount

Either go on line or call the hotel. The person I have been dealing with (Dave Heard) said he would still honor our discount for a few more days. They are being very nice and accommodating to us.
