Any updated photos? I'm going to a lunch / film event in St. Augustine tomorrow that Hurley Haywood is attending. I'd love to show him the progress. (Doubt he's a Rennlister).

Been in a holding pattern lately with this one, I've been busy with another project...kind of near some of his old cars. This car looks pretty much like the pics already posted, ask him about it. Try not to get thrown out of the event

Actually, Hurley speaks well of Deborah in his recent book. While he details some individual stories involving her he fairly reflects on the complexity of her personal journey with the company. Go for it Z Driver...
The lunch was packed on Saturday and I never had a chance to talk with him about it. However, he did speak kindly of Deborah during the Q/A session, and of Peter Gregg despite the falling out they had at one point - definitely a gentleman.

I had some conversations with the Brumos Collection guys at the Porsche Experience center last week. Time has a way of softening the edges of old riffs.
Sorting through the world of 1980s Porsche Pearl here. The early Porsche pearl has a very dark grey/sable tint to it that is unlike the many pearl whites appearing on modern cars:
I noticed that most contemporary pearls are much "whiter"
My COA says:
Got me wondering.. was this car Pearl, or metallic grand prix white? My Glasurit shop did some spray outs..
Left to Right: GP White, Porsche Pearl base coat, Porsche pearl with final coat.
Notice how much darker the pearl base coat is than the GP white.
The results with the car clear everything up: Top: GP white . Bottom: Pearl
This car was definitely "Pearl" and not "GP White metallic" ...This spray out is using the 1986 (first year available) pearlmuttweiss code...so it appears they had that color sorted out in mid 1983 when the prototype 959 was built.
Still not crazy about the original carpet choice... this was salvaged from behind the LH computer.. so true color, no dirt no fade.
The same piece of carpet with the pile viewed in opposite directions.
I would stick with the Pearlmuttweiss, in your position.
That's a cool story about Tilman painting his 930 pearl in 1980...too bad it doesn't say if they did it in house at Porsche....maybe. There's Another Turbo Creation from 1983 in pearl as well, presented as refinished in factory pearl.
So now that we have nailed down the correct color it's time to tear it down for paint.. the color really changes a lot in different lighting conditions. Top: indoor artificial lighting Bottom: Sunlight

I doubt that Mr Brodbeck's 930 was painted at the factory, but know someone who could have the answer to this question.
