... Be very careful to get that "magenta" color correct. It seems to have faded from a unique orange/magenta to magenta over time on some of the objects it was applied to and you really want to get it right...
Good point here, it's more in the "peach" color family.
The only visual mods were seat stripes. The stripes may have importance (to some) for what they represent, but taken by themselves they are kind of horrendous. Most people who are not in the know are like "WTF?" I'm considering using a nice original set of period black sport seats i have in place of the scripts, at least for a while. I can configure the car "correctly" as a pearl 84 S 5-speed with sport seats, carpet of choice, and stash the original scripts and stripes in the attic to remain (and go) with the car. I've already decided that any restoration of the scripts/ stripes will be on a different set of seat cores... the originals are not getting ripped apart.
^^^ Hmmmmm, How can it be the "Brumos Car" if it is without its identifying Deborah Gregg color scheme? ^^^
The facts of the Brumos transition are very important to the accurate representation of this car, and to the teams history. It seems out of character to hide the colors in the attic...
Not my car though, so you do whatever makes you comfortable (not to mention chilling out the spirit of Bob S)... That is a man I would not want pissed at me, alive or dead...

This is very true! The same goes for the carpet color, it should be original if the whole concept is a true restoration, which it seemed great pains were being taken to achieve up until... But that’s just my opinion.
The thought did cross my mind, if Brumos is even still around, that the parts counter might help to source a set of original Brumos seat covers???
Anyway, the paint looks very sharp! Nice color! I lived in Jax back in the early 80’s, Brumos used to put a diagonal stripe on the drivers front fender of a lot of their cars. Wonder if yours had that treatment?
These carpet color samples can play tricks on you. There are no less than 11 "greys", but when you cut up the sample book and line them up you really see the various shades of tan oatmeal brown blue etc.
Those letters look like they have some purple in it.
Pastel gray or New gray look like the best matches
If you put a purple grey carpet in that car all you will ever see is purple, it will drive you crazy. Greys come blended in purple, blues, beiges, greens, etc... and then there is just grey.
Best advice is to take your samples to a Sherwin Williams store and ask for opinions, they see this everyday now that people are updating their home’s colors to various shades of grey and bright white.

Great car and good luck👌
I have been told by two different sources that the seats were modified by Davis Seat Covers of Jacksonville shortly after the car was delivered, this company still appears on Facebook.
To my knowledge the script seats from the factory in the early 928 seat style were only available in 1983 and 1984. I've only seen 3 sets in a car, and two of them were like the ones shown in the ad from germany posted by PF, where the entire seat face was script (including bolsters):
The ones in this car have leather bolsters:
I'm thinking that Armel may have started with the normal full script seats then made them into leather bolsters and headrests. If you look close the stripes are "part" of the headrest upholstery, not sewn on top of a black headrest. Or they started with full back leather seats, or, they took some brand new seats out of this car and rebuilt some existing seat cores into this arrangement. I talked to Davis seat covers and they said the guy who likely did had passed on some years ago.
At some point I suspect Classic 9 will be tasked with this project.

Been thinking more about the correctness of the seat stripe colors...they're significantly faded. If i rip into them i may find some bits of stripe that have never seen sunlight, but I want to leave them intact to follow the car to future owners. Seat cores are plentiful to build fresh units. Problem is that I currently possess NO original physical materials showing the colors. (pamphlets, sales literature, 80s Brumos swag, etc) with which to match the colors. Digital interpretations are all over the color spectrum from camera, lighting, and screen variations. I'm always looking to buy (or borrow) these types of items.
Q: If the original seats (coverings) are in such poor condition that they cannot be rehabilitated, and you are putting new replacement seat covers that will be 90-99% identical, what would the future new owner of the car want or do with the old seats?
I mean it seems romantic but it also seems unnecessary, IMO. And an added cost for a set of additional seats. Again, IMO. I would think that photo documentation would be all that is needed.
