Mark,

Congratulations- you have actually given up on something!

To be honest I thought you were on a hiding to nothing with this one from the getgo but nonetheless interesting to see how it panned out. That some clever chappie somewhere might be able to shoe horn runners into your leftovers may well be possible but somewhat difficult I suspect.

I am still interested to know whether anything more can be squeezed out of a stock 5 litre motor with a different inlet configuration . That this can be the case with stroker motors should be no surprise given Porsche did not design for such a case. Maybe Carl wil try one of his new manifolds to test the concept albeit it was designed for a stroker.

I consider Jim's GT stock enough and they squeezed out 39 more HP & 22ft-lbs of torque with Greg's stroker intake:

Mark,
if you're not going to use those cut-up 944S2 intakes I might buy them (flange + runners, not the plenums) from you.

exactly. that intake is great for what it was designed for, but not for power. its a HUGE restrictor plate basically. even on a 6.4 liter, getting 200 less HP , is coming from the intake, not much else

Yes, as Clint Eastwood said, "a man's got to know his limitations" this is all way out of my wheel house!

im sure if anyone wants to take this on , they will find some big gains on a stock 5 liter to as greg saw as well.

Mark, you're short on time and fab skills - no big deal, and here's why -

Check these guys out, for $2,000, they'll build you a custom intake:

http://www.weinlemotorsports.com/Cus...take-Manifolds

Send them an S4 intake and tell them to build it to fit the S4 intake dimensions using runners as-straight as possible, and that they don't have to be the same length.

Also, to free up space for runners 2, 3, 6, and 7, send them an S3 throttle body, and have them install/build it so that the stock-location airbox hooks-up just like a stock S4 would.

Sell-off your AM manifolds, etc, to help fund this new adventure.

What do you think?

Eric,

Excellent memory- I had clean forgotten all about that event carried out before Jim's stroker was built- not too surprising given I cannot remember what I had for breakfast this morning!

Thats a great idea. im good at bolting things together and even adapting things, not making stuff! way way out of my league. after digging into this, i find out how much MORE i dont know and know how to do.
what you suggest is exactly what i need to do and have done. i need to bolt it on and have it do its thing. its why i wanted to do it in the first place. the fueliing, brains, all can make much more power without going into a much involved custom engine mod.

Ill check them out and see what they can do... buy a used S4 intake from mark and off i go.

anyone want a slightly used Aston martin intake? (wall art?)

Mk

EDIT: just went to that site! yes, that would be the answer and a BARGAIN!! at $2k

Another Dirty Harry fan- Magnum force or so I seem to remember after he popped David Soul's character on a Moto Guzzi vee twin launched from the deck of a redundant aircraft carrier!

Here is what i have left. interesting

to note , the 944 adapters look very close to what was made custom for this purpose.
the stubs or adapters
the runners from the 944S2 intake
and the Amv8 intake with its legs cut off.

So why not now just buy Car's intake and be done with it?

Mark, I have been watching your project with interest, mainly to see just how you were going to fab the tubes to match between the main pieces. My own project has kind of been on hold for a while for a couple of reasons: one is that I have based my fabrication base plate on the footprint of an existing S4 manifold, but I am not confident about how well that actually matches the heads on an assembled engine. I think some of what you have shown in this thread is that they don't match very well. Because of that I have made a couple of attempts to have Obehave2.0 respond about selling me one of the fabrication base plates that you got from him, but he has not responded.

So, I wonder, if you really are going to abandon your project, are you perhaps willing to sell me the base plate you have? I hate to be gleaning like this if there is any chance you might get back to your project, but the plate will certainly help me out so I can get to the welding that I have been holding off on.

What is the price of that manifold from Greg?
