Question What is your winter project?

If all goes well this weekend, my intention will be to start troubleshooting a vacuum leak in the A/C. Being curious, I started wondering what other rennlister's projects were? So, whats your winter project?

Re-build the engine with new rings and bearings. Replace other stuff while at it including motor mounts and oil cooler hoses. Maybe re-build steering rack.

You'll note I'm provided with extra Winter.

Some light body work. P.O. left my poor car out in the Florida sun/rain. The steal parts of the body are showing rust. I have removed the rear hatch glass and plan to remove the rear quarter glass. Get the rust out and put some body filler in there. Leave the final sanding for the body shop that will do the paint job.

Not to mention interior work.

Sure wish I would of won the bid on Big Dave's rear hatch. Anyone out there got one that will fit an 80'?

I am trying to get this beast back togeather again but it takes time. I have to polish those intakes ya know to keep up with you guys.

Anyone splice in a rising rate fuel regulator on a CIS engine yet? I need some plumbing ideas and where to put the pressure gage.

Default Winter project and more!

Come January or February I will fly down to Washington and take Helmut to the Dyno for a base line. Then I will pull his heart out and ship it to Alaska, where I can take it all apart and give it a thorough detailing. Ship the heads out for larger valves, say s-4 size. I'll be looking for some better pistons and rods, and better head gaskets. By the time I'm done with all of that it will be ready for some boost.

Hi jayc67

Why are you doing a conversion rather than using Isceon 49 or AutoFrost:

http://www.autofrost.com/

I contacted George Goble (the inventor of Autofrost) earlier in the year, this was his reply:

Paul,

Sorry.. I dont know of any Autofrost (R-406A) in the UK...
I have heard of others blending it from time to time..
Isceon49 (R-413A) looks to be a slightly better refrigerant
than RS24 by looking at their makeup.. Isceon49 will carry
mineral oil a little better.. but not as good as R406A does..
But R413A should still work for most cars, esp if the
compressor is mounted down low.. R-413A comtains
R-218, which the US EPA does not allow because of
high global warming..

good luck in your heat wave.

Well, spring project, buying new or rebuilding my a/c compresser. And recharging it with R-134a. The old nose seal had enough. Maybe I can find a seal to replace it. Just seems to be a simple O-ring. Shouldn't be too hard, right? (or not...)

Correcting a number of rattals, and squeeks. And getting the rear window wiper to work.

Oh, and getting the oil pressure gauge to work correctly again.

Oh, and getting that passangers side marker light to work right again.

I've got a 2 page list really...

I'm going to pull the motor and replace all the gaskets on my 1986 Meteormetallic 928S. Clean the engine bay and repaint the intake silver and metoer metallic to match the car.

My project is to start moving the engine out of my trunk and back where it should be. A fellow 928 owner is giving me a lift to pick up the used heads tomorrow and then I'll start taking parts back to my apartment for cleaning, unfortunately I don't have access to light, water or electricty (or even a toilet) where I have to work on my car. Because it gets dark here by 4pm there's only about 12 hours per week at the weekend I can work on the car, and then it usually rains!
