Steel ball joints, rebuild the brake calipers, replace the rear brake disks, fabricate a new bellypan, rebuild the external shift linkage, clean and detail the engine compartment, polish the damn wheels and do a little sprucing up on the interior.

(Sounds simple, but I believe it's a very big job. Hoses, wires, etc. )

...and some odds and ends.

I'm looking forward to the brake and supension upgrade.

Here's my "plan"

1. Replace motor mounts
2. Replace all the vacuum lines
3. Replace the red carpet with black
4. re-dye the seats
5. take care of any serious but yet undiscovered problems (the car is new to me!)
6. See how much money is left and take if from there!


We have pretty long winters over here in Boston as well.

Replace all coolant hoses
Install steel ball joint updates
Work out HVAC bugs (no heat)
Change oil, fliter, & seal
Clean engine and bay
Dye faded interior parts
Work on leather items
Install new speakers
Replace windshield
T-belt/Water pump

And if there is any time left over....drive it a bit.

My wife is getting me an air compressor for Christmas. Sure will make tearing the car apart a little easier.

1. Install new speakers i bought in spring.
2. Paint and rebuild all the brake calipers.
3. Paint the rotor hats.
4. A/T fluid and filter change
5. Tune up
6. TBelt & water pump service
7. Radiator flush and refill
8. Install the test pipe i bought in spring.
9. Replace leaking center muffler.
10. Probably should install new wheel bearings while i have all the brakes apart.
11. Install all the new heater and radiator hoses i bought
12. Alignment
13. Fix all the paint chips i can


If I get some extra money,

New wheels and tires.
New Bilstein coilovers, beefier swaybars and drop links
Take car to body shop to repair the quarter size rust bubble at the base of the driver side rear 1/4 window.

Gerry .... the system fuel pressure is controlled by the bypass valve (blow off) on the back of the fuel distributor return line to the gas tank , it can be adjusted by changing the number of shims . The " warm up regulator" which is really control pressure , the thing missing from your thermostat housing has two fuel lines , one vacuum connection and an electrical connection . It already increases richness when accelerating IF it is working correctly . Adding a fuel pressure regulator should not be needed or beneficial . The control pressure regulator is setting the mixture all the time .

As of this afternoon on the soon to be delivered 1988 928S4

1. Detal interior, exterior and engine compartment.
2. Replace dashboard and Instrument pod.
3. Install new radio.
4. Swap better seats into car.
5. Put on 8" Front and 9" Rear Design 90's.
6. Determine if MAF or LH computer is causing car stall, replace as needed.
7. Thank Mark Anderson for not dismantling what will soon be a very sweet
ride at a sweet price.
8. Thank another good budy for helping to make it happen.
9. Sit back and stare at sweet new ride until they let this maniac drive again.

Selling off everything I don't just have to have to survive, fixing the misc. nick-knacks on the 928 and fixing up my new-to me 1985 MB 500 SEC

I have to admit, Winter in South Texas is like a nice fall or cool spring in the North. Some are still riding their MC, just with leather on now

are you saying that the warm up regulator aka(control pressure reg.) sort of acts like a rising rate fuel pressure reg. under 'load' ?

So I don't really need an after market RR Fuel Press reg then?

Well, what about under boost which might be in the cards?

I was going to go get the darn thing out of the garage and study it a little bit here by the fireplace, however I don't feel like truging through 8 inches of snow right now to get it. Man, we are really getting whacked by this Nor'easter out here on the Ol "Ilse of Long"

Thanks JE, I love the lines, the ride and quality of workmanship that went into it (as I do the 928). I knew the last two PO's and both kept it up. The one I bought it from, did a slow roll into the tree next door and did some light damage to the leftside front corner. He had over 12K in it at that point and just gave up (I think it was a karma thing). I happened to be in the right place at the right time for once and snatched it up real, real, real,...... cheap .

When finished, I'm thinking of making it my daily drive, we'll see?
