Default S2? S? 89? 88?

ok im only on my first 944. when i had a guy work on it (im away from home now, i dont have my tools) he had a "blown" 944. i want it! i am pretty sure he said its locked up. the car looked immaculate! when i popped the hood, it looked like a 12 valve head (spark plugs were in the middle). the engine is a 2.7 liter. i think he said its an 88 but were the 2.7 only in 89? did they have a 16 valve engine? the body, interior, battery, etc were PERFECT! needing an engine rebuild, do you think this car would be worth $4,000? it had an n/a style front end. did the s2s have a turbo bumper? would this car just be an s?

sounds like a chopped up monstrosity owned by a guy who has NO idea of what he's talking about. 12 valve head??? 8 or 16 are the only options here. only dual cam cars were 2.5 or 3.0L. this can't be good, RUN away.

If it had an n/a style front end it is not an s2. There's also no such thing as a 12V 944. I forget if the 2.7 was an 8V or a 16V.

If it looks like a 944 turbo and has a 16V head it's an S2. All S2's are 3.0L. If it has an NA style bumper and a 16V head it's an S. All S's are 2.5L. The S was built in '87 &'88, the S2 in '89,'90, & '91.
The only 2.7L was the '89 8V 944NA.
Hope that helps.

I thought the 944S in '89 had a 2.7L.
You guys are welcome to correct me if I am wrong...

It's most likely an 88 944S 16V 2.5L. That would be the car with centered spark plug and the NA body

That' my guess, I don't think they had the NA body after 88 or 88 being the last year for the NA body in a 16V. The 2.7 NA had the NA body, but was an 8V.

Dont come here if you dont like it.

The car you're looking at is probably a '79 924.

If you really want an answer why dont you look it up for yourself? It's not that hard.

Ahhhhhh - folks.....when someone asks "what the hell is wrong with you people", they must have a reason. The worse thing you can say is "what is wrong with YOU!".

Grow up, answer the man's damn question like an adult and have a happy Halloween. Sheeeesh!!!
