Seriously.. Nobody wants to know what's wrong with me.. The pictures in your minds afterwards will haunt you in your dreams forever, you won't be able to work and will grow white hair that will fall of and then your teeth will crawl back into your head and bite the brain so hard that you will die and wish it had fallen off your head along with the hair...

....by the way - my guess is you are looking at a 88' 944S. Did the owner say it was a 2.7? He may be incorrect on that one, but it's only .2 of a difference, so I'm not going to tell you to get a muscle car (what IS up with that anyway?).

$4000 would be good if it was running. Find out why it's locked up and report back. If it's a broken timing belts, figure around $3000/4000 to fix it right. First find out what needs to be done, then we can give you an idea of what it's worth. Non-running 944's usually don't sell for much over $1000 - but, like I said, it depends on what is wrong with it.

Keep in mind, if it's an S and the head is gone, that's $5000 right there, just for the head. So don't go jumping at $4000, even if it looks perfect. Not just yet. We'll figure it all out eventually for ya.....just give us some more succinct info as soon as you get it.

Wanna buy a muscle car? i'll sell you one of mine.

how bout a camaro with 33k miles, six speed, worked suspension, etc. over 300hp. 3 sets of wheels, new snow tires, now thats muscle, not like some wimpy 2.5 or 2.7 liter motor.

if i sell it to you, you have to promise not to wrap it around a tree for three hours.

whats .2 liter anyway? a swig or a gulp? ha!

Anders,
I may have to report that post. im getting the creepie crawlies just reading that. eeewwww!!!! posting that on halloween is not fair!

Sweanders.......is that you? Or did Samara from "The Ring" just take over your computer???

If anyone's computer monitor goes snowy, DON'T LOOK AT THE SCREEN!!! Sweanders will slowly climb out of the top of his 928 and make his way towards you....you can't escape. He will get close, then climb through your monitor, look at you and the last thing you will see is the thermostat snap ring, then you will die with a look on your face so scary that people will think you are the Godfather!

The only way to stop him is to make copies of the 944 Workshop Manuals and pass them on!!

My guess is that it is more likely a 1988 944S (2.5l 16v head).

Second quess is that is it the 1989 944 n/a (2.7l 8v head).

And you are all going back to 944 school: how come you guys are so uneducated about the model line? It is all quite simple: (US-Spec models):

924:
1977 - 1982: 924 n/a: 2.0 liter 8v engine. (~115hp)

924 Turbo (aka the 931):
1979 - 1982: 931: 2.0 turbo 8v engine (~150 hp)

924S:
1987 - 1988: 924S: 2.5 8v 944 engine. (~150hp)

944:
1983 - 1985: 944: 2.5 8v engine, 'early-dash' model (through first half of 1985) (~150hp)
1985.5 - 1988: 944 2.5 8v engine, 'late-dash' model (~150 hp)
1989: 944 2.7 8v engine. (~162hp)

944 Turbo (aka 951):
1986 - 1988: 2.5 8v turbo engine (~217 hp)
1989: 2.5 8v turbo engine (~247hp) (Same engine as 1988 951S, without the 'S' designation)

944 Turbo S (aka 951S)
1988: 2.5 8v turbo engine (~247hp)

944S:
1987 - 1988: 2.5 16V engine (~188hp)

944S2:
1989 - 1991: 3.0 16v engine (~208hp)

968:
1992 - 1995: 3.0 16v engine with vario cam (~236hp)

Any questions? There will be a test tomorrow...

-Zoltan.

Please buy Tom's Camaro! so he can get another Porsche, that way he can cut the mullet off, sell the gold chains to help pay for the Porsche repairs (And hopfully keep his wife happy).
And I can sell him my 968 wheels with snows at a huge profit!

What the HELL is wrong with you people??!

yeah i just asked a question. everybody seemed to jump on me because i like muscle cars. and i dont like camaros. i like mopars and mustangs. ive owned a built 69 mach 1, built 85 gt, 89 lx, and now have a 85 svo<<not a muscle car. the head was still on it, but i think you meant the valves being screwed. yes HE said it was a 2.7. ill try to get the number, and ask him more. but its a shop, he was supposed to put a new engine in foir the owner, but the guy just left it there. so he won the title in a court battle. he mainly works on hondas

if you like muscle cars you probably wont be happy with a 944 that isnt a 944 turbo.

if you like a good handling car you probably wont be happy with a muscle car.

and if you have or want a mullet.... ah forget it, thats a whole nother post.

dang straight: a 65 impala convertible WILL NOT HANDLE...
(camaros are stereotypically muscle cars...if i could have a first gen camaro in decent shape, sorry, but id give up my 944 to do so...and people have made first gen camaros capable of 200 mph autobahn cruising too...and one of the very very fastest cars at our local SCCA autoXz is a modded 67 camaro) BTW if you think the impala is too big of a car to be considered a muscle car..we'll take you on a ride if you can find your way to Montana in the summer :-D

Neither will a 68 Firebird convertible, or a 93 Camaro Z28.

I believe the definition of a muscle car is a big motor in a small car. The impala has muscle, thats for sure, it is probably a muscular car, but it isn't a muscle car.

But if they call the camaro a sports car I guess you can call the Impala a muscle car.
