I first wanted a 944 when I was 14... then I finally bought one at the age of 24. It's even identical to the one that I wanted to buy when I was 14... well, it was before I ripped out the interior and made it a 944-spec race car. I still don't get why people think these cars are so hard or expensive to maintain... most things are a heck of a lot easier to deal with than on my Acura Integra (which is pretty easy to work on) or other cars I've had, and the parts are generally cheaper too (except for the water pump and clutch).

Got into Porsches when I was around 4 and picked out the power-wheels 911 at the Toys'r'us. Now I'm 17, and after saving the past couple of years bought a '87 na. Basically nobody here knows that its not that great, they just get to the word "Porsche" and think I have an extremely expensive car. Here there's a LOT of respect for muscle cars, but the same group respects ricers as well. Then again about 75% of the parking lot is filled with trucks at my school.

Everyone always thinks theres a v8 or once even a v12 under the hood. One guy thought the engine was in the back. Noone knows what the hell this car is, its pretty comical.

I usually joke when somebody asks, I tell them its a turbocharged 3.5 liter v6, and after they say "really?" I say naah, its a 2.5 four banger.

The 944 was introduced in 1982 with a 2.5 L straight-4 engine whose design was based on one half of the Porsche 928's V8 engine. While the design was very similar to the V8, very few parts were interchangeable. The 944 was based on the the earlier 924 model, but featured numerous changes including updated bodywork with flared fenders and a rear spoiler similar to that on the previous 924 Turbo.

I bought mine when I was 15, now I'm nearly 27
