Replaced my heater control valve with a factory air p/n 74671 as well as the hoses. Pain in the a@$ to put in but she’s there. Had to add a piece of small engine fuel line over the vac tube to widen it up enough to hold the silicone vac line on tight.
Also sanded down and painted up the Porsche script on my calipers. Used some Emory cloth for the sand down, paint brush to clean up the dust and then a silver paint pen to bring them back. Pretty happy with the outcome -we’ll see how long it lasts.

^^ my new engine has a Spec unit like that, something like 4 kg lighter than stock.
crazy light.
be sure to double check the diameter of the new FW vs the stock one for setting the ref sensor set screw height.
my Spec FW was a good 1/2"/13mm smaller OD than the stock Porsche FW so i had to get a longer screw.
drove it under its own power for the first time in 18 months.
made it about 1/4 mile before realizing the master cylinder is totally shot (its been on the downhill for about 4 years admittedly) and i couldn't get into reverse to turn around, or back into a forward gear while running lol.
so pushed it back 1/4 mile, luckily my street is flat and mostly straight...but im all exercised for the day
@ Adreje...If you want a real thrill, wait until you get a chance to change out the heater hoses on an early 944..It's under the dash on the passenger side. Lotsa fun...not!

bled the brakes (for the first time since W was president... ) and then installed new clutch hydraulics. last time i did that was with the previous fluid in 2007 or so...fun reminder how much that job sucks.
but...clutch works smoothly and i got to actually drive the car for the first time since July '18 around the block a few times.
just a shake down, lots of stuff to do still, but holy crap, this new engine is torquey.

I have a late 944 NA (1986). I would also like to switch to a metal Heater Control Valve.
What 944 do you have? Early, Late, S, S2?

I have an 86 951 -found it in a used dealers personal stash in the back of his shop. Sat there for 9-10 years -gave him what he paid for it in a trade in and have been slowly replacing/upgrading bit by bit. So far I’ve replaced all the coolant hoses, fuel lines, new ac compressor, belt service, vac lines etc.
Same guy has another gold 86 951 for sale if anyone is looking -pm me for contact info.
