In anticipation of new cooling system hoses and a replacement radiator - I removed the front portion of the cooling system.
Thought I would take a look at the waterpump as I have been seeing brass flakes in the coolant. The WP bearing is the only thing I can think of that has any brass in it. Pump looks fine visually - however I discovered that the dumb *** (me) that did the belts last switched the timing belt tensioner with the balance shaft tensioner. The result is that the timing belt was riding too close to the engine and put grooves in the rear belt cover.
Will be ordering a few parts today, including a camshaft seal and a timing belt. Not sure if I need a new waterpump. It's still the only answer I keep coming up with regarding the brass flakes. There aren't any other moving parts and none of them have brass in them.
Oh - then I installed new tie rods, boots and tie rod ends. Should eliminate that annoying creaking sound that has existed for a couple of years now. The inner ball joint seemed to be binding a little causing the creaking noise.

Jack squat. She's been residing in the garage for the past month. Took her out on Friday, then returned her to the den. Have a number of parts that I'm going to get installed/replaced. Also, needs a BIG DETAIL as well as small things done like weather seals and hatch reseating. Just letting her relax for now!

Burning Brakes
The good thing is that I will be able to focus a bit more on my business for the winter, without thinking of my 951 all the time and looking on the internet for new parts
Man, this hobby is taking a lot of my time.
But I love it. Thank you to all you guys on rennlist
I feel like you are all my friends, even if have not met 99% of you.

YEAH Snow - rear defog works!
Sunday I put the spare rims with the snow tires on it..snow in the forecast...so with the now 4 wheel knobbies doesn't the GF say it looks like a Jeep (is she a keeper or what?).
Today I drove to work @ 7:30am (& 32+ degrees), I tried to get it up to 55mph to see if the balance on em is good, unfortunately no joy, but the silver lining here is that the added knobbie road noise overrides most of the transaxle whine ...
My city crossing is without speed zones over 45 and too much traffic & to many popo's...regardless I tried to wreck it as I darned near spun out in the salt mound (WTF?) I discovered as I turn onto my bone dry work-road. Apparently it was deposited during the night in anticipation.... for my safety???
Tonight I was greeted to a light dusting on the car at 5:00pm....so with warming it up and leaving the back window covered.. I FINALLY got to see that the hatch defog works!! Gosh does anything ever break on these things?
I know I know it's nothing with out pics... TBD... more snow forecast for Wed, ...
Don't jinx me now I easily can do that enough by myself...but after 4,000+ miles now ...I am thinking this thing might make a great winter rat after all...

I longingly looked at it.. and the dirt its covered in.. and the kids fingerprints on it.. as I hoped in the other car to pick up the kids from school. 60 degrees last week and I didn't wash the car. Snow over the weekend and 40s predicted all week. Grrr.

I had to do an emergency winterization on not one, but two race cars with water only in them. Early December and already we are getting into the mid teens in Portland. Made it through last night in the garage at 23 degrees, but not taking a chance tonite at 15.

Finished my updates and upgrades. Got the 968 door handles and mirrors installed, 18" Porsche Turbo Twist rims installed, 19mm M030 rear bar installed, pulled and adjusted the M474 Koni front struts (just 1 extra turn more firm from factory setting).
Hmmmm.......... can you all see me smiling, just got back from a little drive.
