I got a nice package in the mail this week from Only944.com. Last night I installed the new leather shift boot. Today I installed the tail light kit and short shifter. It's a nice improvement in the shifter.

may go get some metal tomorrow to continue working on my intake manifold...

Where did you end up getting yours Michael? This is likely not something I'm doing till next year at the earliest, but I'm going to start looking now.

I decided to clean my power steering rack of 30 years worth of grime and leakage, only to strip out two of those 6mm allen banjo bolts... got them out with vise grips but I'll be replacing them

Took my car in to have the a/c charged.. won't hold vacuum. Have to take it back for them to figure out where it's leaking. I'm guessing the condenser didn't like being removed from the car for the first time since it was installed in 1986. The radiator didn't like being removed and had to be replaced.

Had all the hoses rebuilt, new compressor, dryer and o-rings.

Spent parts of the last couple days putting in fresh struts, control arms, bushings, and ball joints (pre-emptively, as it turns out, but better than too late...), as well as replacing the tar around the rear tail lights with rubber, and fitting new hatch pin seats. Between replacing the completely ruined hatch pin seats, and some seriously flat struts, I removed two massive sources of rattling, which were driving me insane on the terrible local roads.

Unfortunately, I discovered that the hatch glass is starting to separate. I can't say I'm terribly surprised: as soon as I finish one thing, my attention gets drawn to another, but I'm not sure I'll have time to tackle this one myself. So it goes...

Had a keyless entry/alarm installed. Really just wanted the keyless and trunk pop, but he said he'd throw in the trunk pop for free if I did the alarm. Didn't do starter kill however, it has it, but last thing I need is something else to trouble shoot later.

Had it done to get lifetime warranty.

Installed my modified/reinforced motor mounts on the NA (window weld added around the "neck" of each mount). Had to abort mission, as the added material kept the mounts from going into the pockets on the crossmember. Just wouldn't compress enough without totally messing up the alignment to the engine upright bolts. So, installed the old OEM ones from my 951, which seem to be in great shape and have '08 stamped on them.

Next up was re-wiring my LS1 ignition coils. 2 years ago when I first installed Megasquirt, I wired the ECU signal ground to the coils into the primary coil ground, which went to the chassis. That worked fine but I should have given that signal ground some sort of filtering against ground plane interference, or grounded it through the ECU (which is filtered for sensor grounds). Ended up doing the latter and now the car runs better than ever.

Last work I was planning on was taking apart the upper strut mount arrangement to check for issues. Sure enough, the VW Fox strut mounts I installed a year ago had gone to ****. To be fair, they were the Rock Auto clearance special (Monroe brand). Failed in so many ways. Bearings were popped out and totally seized up. Good thing I held on to my original ones.

To make sure that I couldn't simply enjoy a drive for the first time in 2 weeks, the car decided to stop charging. Ended up being the alternator exciter wire snapping off at the eyelet terminal. No big deal but I'm pretty sure someone is sabotaging my cars to break every week.

I cleaned up my brake booster from about a zillion years of rust and abuse...getting it ready for paint. Decided not to fight the under dash treatment and will paint it where it stands. Cleaned up all the fuel and brake line brackets from under the car...Have to pick up rear suspension parts from the powdercoater on Wednesday..still waiting on classic tube to ship new stainless fuel and brake lines..

Tiger,
Was it a pain to remove the booster? Mine's a bit rusty also and was thinking about a restoration or full replacement someday soon...
