This.
It's like they don't want my business.
I'm not willing to pay clear of $1400 in labour for what would take, on the outside, 3 hours.
The only reason I was getting quotes from them in the first place is because I have a track day coming up in a few weekends and I'm currently not going to have the time to do it myself before that day.

Unfortunately thats exactly why they gave you those prices... i was given a quote of 3700 USD for a timing belt replacement at a stealership outside of D.C... Of course i thought it was outrageous until i saw that it did NOT include a balance belt, rollers, seals, water pump or anything else besides the cost of the belt and replacement. oh and they would charge the same to retension it 1500 miles later!
Basically they just give you a crazy number so you don't make them relearn an old procedure on an old car. and if you decide to pay it, then well, it was worth it to them for all that cash...

I've seen too many Caymans in parking lots lately...
Here's a couple Cayman S's I've seen in the past week, posed my 944 next to them for the helluvit. They always seem to park really far away from the store entrance in the middle of nowhere parking area.
I like the red one better

And about the paint job- that's a guards red sh*tty respray over original sienna red. I DID BUFF IT OUT!! last summer, but since, has quickly faded. In fact, the paint is so thin at this point that next time I buff it (which I am planning ASAP) I think it will start to reveal the old paint... And after a buff+wax, each time I waxed the car it only lasted like 2 weeks then got faded. FML. I've even thought, hell, why not keep buffing till the whole car is sienna?? LOL
