.....it was the last thing I would remember. I was floating above my own body in a dank, dimly lit morgue examination room. I saw the attendants tying the cliched "toe tag" on yours truly. Guess it hadn't been a dream, waking to trod down to St. Alphonso's. No hallucinatory effects from the Kool-Aid that Ferdinand always made me drink (you too, huh ?) or from SARS or monkey-butt pox. Well, what had killed me then ? NOS fumes, deadly fart fumes ? No, my body was laying in a pool of a deep red sticky substance. Maybe it was the deadly snap rings, digging deep to hurt me like no #2 bearing failure or piston to valve collision ever could. No, that was when all the weird stuff was happening. I know what happened, it was back when things were still real. I had died in the rear ender with the primered Escort with the ironing board across the hatch while making my getaway from the Snow Ball stand. The sticky red stuff was obviously strawberry syrup. I had started down the tunnel towards the "Light" (take heed now, kids, this is an afterlife experience) when I was met in the corridor by Mr. K. He said, "Those that those that have tormented you in life, shall torment your death. Ashes to ashes, rice to rice". So before I reached the light, my subconscious mind had put me through all that you have just read. But please, don't feel sympathy for me, it was a great ride.
