I can't believe this is even an issue given the signal to noise ratio. Srsly.

 

I would prefer the posts gravitate more toward technical subjects but having moderators (or someone) judge what is and what isn't technical probably wouldn't work very well. I just blow past any titles that don't appear to have any technical content.

 

I guess a few of the offenders are banned currently. That last batch of old "rock" threads dug up by a few individuals just put me over the top. I am fed up and decided to be more vocal about what irritates me from now on.

I don't think any rules need to be changed or anything, we all just need to use some common sense. We don't need 20 people telling someone they're a douchebag for street racing or whatever. And if someone opens a thread asking where he can find mudflaps for his 924, we don't need 40 people telling him he's a douchebag for wanting to put mudflaps on his car. He didn't ask for your opinion, and if you can't help, don't reply. If we, as a community, don't reply to what we consider the "stupid" threads, they'll move down the list, and eventually disappear.

I've noticed a lot of trash on this board lately too. To the point where I was no longer interested in reading through the posts and stayed out of this forum for a few days.

I don't mind non-technical topics on here but some of the posting were just plain stupid and a waste of time and energy for anyone reading or writing it. What's worse is that when someone does have a technical question it gets pushed offscreen by some of the other meaningless topics.

I like the whole community feeling but at times reading through this board makes me feel like I'm in a high school cafeteria.

 

True !!!

Best example is when someone is looking for an automatic 944......Wow !!! All he gets is " come on, learn to drive a stick" or "have her learn to drive a stick"....

It's like nobody here understand that someone may prefer an automatic ! Come on ! I have an automatic and I am the best ******* gear changer you have ever seen and I raced for 20 years !!!! But you know what ? In daily traffic that automatic is 10 times more pleasant for me than having a clutch ! For me now, it's automatic for the street and manual if I get on the track again, as simple as that...

So stop telling people what to drive without knowing anything about them...

 

I remember that post by Tod with the automatic. He has parted several 944s and has extensive knowledge of 944/951s in general so he really doesn't need someone to tell him what to do. As for the high school cafeteria, many of the junk posters are pretty much right out of high school so its no surprise.
