S2 Air Box Mod?

So I got to thinking the other day about the 968 Air Box Mod. It gives a little improvment to the car, for hardly any work and the fact that it's free!
Has anyone done this on an S2? I mean, it's the same concept and idea. 4 holes, more airflow. If anything, wouldn't the S2 benefit more then the 968 considering the airflow to the S2 air box is more direct and shorter through the front bumper.

Well, you see...the car is torn apart right now lol. However, she should be running next thursday or friday. God blessed OPRV O-rings are taking 15 days to get here, and that's all I'm waiting on!
I can get pictures later.

If you eliminate the airbox on a 968 and keep the hot air off the filter you can get a gain. It's not a peak gain but you can get roughly 15 or so whp in the mid-range for about 2500 rpm or so. I have a dyno chart somewhere.

my original airbox had a crack in the front side, so I broke it out and opened it up so there were 2 holes about 6" x 3". I didn't notice any difference in the seat of pants, and I've since replaced the broken box with another one I bought. Don't do it, not worth it, just makes your filter dirtier quicker and we know how easy those are to change.

Think this has been well discussed all over the place inclusing here.
I thought that the "take" on things is that the 968 air box is designed like it is for a reason, too get a certain amount of air into the system with little turbulance.
Same as the s2,
removing the airbox or putting a cone filter aint recomended prolly make things worse and at best is snake oil
search for "Am I just going to ruin my airbox?" on here
"yes. you will ruin your air filter box.
the intake is designed to be connected to the scoops above the radiator support because it's cooler air coming in from there. putting holes in the air filter box will let warm air in----not good at all. and that's just for the top side of the box.

I've never understood why people think cone filters make their valves bigger. In most cases it seems to me that cone filter setups reduce the airbox volume, thus reducing the amount of filtered air available to rush into the engine without having to be dragged through the filter first. And of course the resonance effect is totally changed.
As for drilling holes in the airbox, as long as the inlet comfortably exceeds the size of the rest of the plumbing, intake valve area, etc. I doubt any good will come of it. Next time you are at the pool, try putting a 3" tip on the end of your snorkel and see if that helps you breathe easier.

I'm sure a few other 968 people will jump in but on the 968-
1) It sounds better
2) Some gain in HP proven on a few dynos
3) Lowered air temps (I'm not sure how it lowered them but I trust the **** engineer who did the testing)

Some good information can be found here on the air box mod.
Even the naysayers eventually went with this modification after much debate here in the US and in europe. On a 968 the gains have been dyno proven.
