I think most Hybrid guys would tell you that you would be well into more than $6K total to get the job done right.

bring it on...

not sure why everyone needs to extract tons of hp from an n/a motor- 2.5l- when these cars do awsome the way they are. Do yourself a favor, upgrade the suspension and learn how to drive.

$6K
Thats near the minimum for the LS conversions assuming one does his own work. Theres no cheap way to HP. Then again, nothing cheap is worth having.

yea, thats what I said, 3 grand for the motor plus another 3 grand for the conversion parts. All I was saying was, if you want a fast non turbo 944, this is the cheapest way to do it. On the up side, heres what you'll have after an ls1 swap:

easy cheap maintenance
no more timing belt jobs
no more ridiculous snap ring thermostat changes
no more worrying about milkshake making oil coolers
no more $700 oil pumps or $3000 crankshafts

what you will have is about 315hp and about 400 ft/lbs tq reliably all day long. parts you can buy at any checker, autozone or kragen. Pick up a summit racing catalog and there is page after page of aftermarket parts to improve these motors. The Na 944 is fun to me, but the guy wanted to know how to make more HP in it and I feel this is the most cost effective way.

Oddly enough, it turns out it is possible to make almost 200hp from the 2.5. I was reading an old copy of porsche and 911 and look what I found...(sorry for the blurry pics)

Just for the sake of argument, i hardly ever read of oil pump failures on the 944. How often do you have to change the snap ring on the thermostat and honestly everyone makes the timing belt thing out to be so bad. Its every 3 years or so if you do the 'average' mileage.

But yea, doing what DVC did with the LS1 GTO motor....i mean thats just sick

Yeah I know driving skill and suspension comes first. Thats why I mentioned this as being a long way down the line... also after I learn to drive...

I just hit my goddamn grill today and dented my right rear quarterpanel to hell. I guess my best bet is to source a panel. Stupid grill... must have jumped out in front of me.
