Default Making good NA hp- even possible?

Hi everyone,

I have an 83 with the 2.5l engine and have heard that building this motor is not worthwhile at all. I guess it is hard to make power or what?

So I was wondering what kind of whp people are making with the 2.5l motor or any other NA 944 motor for that matter. Is 200whp a pretty distant number for most?

I was thinking of doing some heavier engine mods much later down the road after I learn to drive, thats why I ask.

It really isn't worth your time or money trying to make big HP from an N/A. Save your money and buy a turbo (how many times has this been said lol)

to make over 200 reliable hp will cost over $20K, assuming you can put it together yourself correctly

Hmm definitely seems like a waste of time and money to build any NA 944 engine.

What about some conversion options.

I have a feeling an F20C(Honda S2000) would go pretty well with a 944.

How do things work with the transaxle when doing a swap? Does the transmission move to the front like normal or is the transaxle utilized and fitted to work with the swapped engine?

How easily does the 944 turbo engine swap in? ...even though I'm not all for forced induction.

From a cost and simplicity stand point, i would go with a 968 3.0L instead. They put out similar HP #'s and the 3.0L has the benefit of huge low end torque aswell as being 'almost' a direct fit. Also the 968 swap is pretty well documented, you know exactly what you need and what has to be done to get it working. Your running blind with the F20C idea and that means you are spending alot of money to figure things out.

Plan on spending about $5-6g's to get it done though.

Believe me, ive thought about the swap heavily and even had a donor motor lined up. After thinking about it alot, i made my final decision, which you can see in my signature..
