Buy an RX-7! spend 2000-3000$ on it and get a 300hp beast that can beat most sports cars out there. I currently have a 1983 944 and my buddy has a 1983 RX-7, he just bought a turbo 2 engine for 1300$ (very common) and we beat a Z06 the other day hands down!
Now imagine that a 7000$ish car beating a $120,000 car! I am seriously considering a RX-7 for Bang for my buck. I love my 944, good looks, awsome handling, very unique, but it will never be fast without a ****load of money!

No rotary turbo's don't die fast, unless there putting down crazy horsepower, you can put out 300hp reliably. just think, 15,000$ for a 944 turbo that's fast or a 7000$ RX-7 thats SCARY FAST. now don't get me wrong i would own a 944 turbo in a heart beat but for the money i have now and what you've explaind a RX-7 would be the way to go for power.

Tom R, your "use the search function" confused me in post 9.
Are you trying to say there is a one word answer to ritz's question/ Would that be "boost'?
Is it really possible to turbo an NA car??? Where would I find this info out? Could you post links?
Pass the popcorn, I'll get the beers.![thumbup](https://rennlist.com/forums/graemlins/thumbup.gif)
Post nine was as far as I could read...

I didn't mean 944, but was referring to the porsche NA motors in general. even though the '68 is an extension of the '44 line...
so who's going to be the one who makes a frankenhybrid of S2000 head parts to a 2.5 block, a 10,000RPM 944 screamer?

trying to get HP from these motors is too hard and costly. a 968 engine is like 4 grand, not to mention the stuff you will need to support it. an ls1 pullout with the tranny that you can sell is 3 grand all day long on ebay. for another 3 grand in parts, you could have a reliable, cheap to maintain 400hp powerplant and be smoking 951s left and right.
