Strangely enough, this thread makes me even more excited about owning my very own 944.

These 2 are completely true for me.

Every time I see another 944, I race to catch up to it, and flag down the driver just to wave. They always look at me as if I have lost my mind..... I have.

On the off chance I get to talk to another 944 owner, I tell them about RL, and they just don't get it. Again, they look at me as if I have lost my mind....I have.
Lol i totally feel ya man, although i must say something pretty cool happened one time.

A really really nice, (probably weekend car) base 944 with turbo twists was going down the other side of the street that i was, and i got excited at the time because it was the first 944 in town that i had seen since i got the car, so i honked at it and i turned around to try to catch up.

Turns out he saw me pull around and went to park in a parking lot. We talked for a bit and he was just out for a ride with his wife, i think i may have asked about rennlist and he had no idea what i was talking about lol. It was pretty cool and he didn't seem to judge me at all, probably just thought ah heck its some kid who just got the car or something heh.

O a little detail i remember, he had the Porsche reflector plate in place of where you normally find the License plates. Shows he didn't have any influence from these forums thats for sure..

A stock 951S makes no where near 100hp more than a 88 911. About 40 on a good day.

You might own a 944 if....

You pull up to the valet, and fully expect him to park your car in the front row, where there are currently 3 other Porsches.

But, he drives your car to the back with all of the other "regular" cars .

You drive the car daily for 12 years, and still get pissed off on the days when you have to drive the other car.

If you bought a second one for parts thinking it was good insurance and the first blew the headgasket a week later leaving you with a really good life saver instead!

(Luckily got the parts car running days before the first one went to sh*t, passenger side is smashed but who cares, I can't see that side )

You might own a 944 if...

...Your daughter wakes up at 9:44 on a Saturday morning, sees you on the back porch, and asks why you are grilling?

And you answer that you're warming up the hub so that the bearing races go in a little easier, like that is just normal behavior.

Your car says " Made in West Germany"

Every Mustang, Camaro, Corvette and Rice burner wants to race doesnt bother you, but you want to race other porsches especially 911s' just to prove that you have a real Porsche.

Your clock is just a showpiece

It's not about how fast you can start, (0-60 in so and so time) It's about how long you can hold it (100mph in a 55mph)

Ferrari (always hidden never driven), 944 (always driven never hidden)

If you put a LS2 in your 944, you should have just bought a corvette or a camaro SS

You wait for the fuel gauge warning light to go on, so you know you need to refuel.

You love having your AC compressor seize up, shredding your accessory belt on the freeway in the middle of no where desert.

You need your friends to help take your sunroof on because it is bulky and poorly designed, and they don't know how the latches work and break them off.

Your car was purchased with a broken front valance, and you go to the junkyard to buy another broken valance for repair/replacement.

Your windshield wipers don't know where to stop, and it's like a game to stop them at the bottom.

When you turn on your high beams and the headlights just turn off instead.

When you can manage to fit 2 teenagers in the front seat, 2 in the back seat, +1 in the trunk, not including all of our school backpacks and musical instruments.

You have trouble deciding which set of ugly retro 80's rims to get for your car.

When you have to spend tons of hours researching and deciding the puzzles of your cars history and options.

When you are driving through a crazy rain storm, and your windows fog up so bad that you have to roll your windows down- but that doesn't matter because there are already so many leaks coming inside.

(all I can think of at the moment)

- you no longer have to "type send me your paypal info" when you send Lart or JOSH B a PM

- you search "craiglist" daily using an aggregator searching for an $800 951 Parts car with sport seat, 968 mirrors and rear wing, adjustable koni's, and CCW's

- after months of searching when you find this elusive $800 951 Parts car.....you call and the seller tells you it was just sold to a guy names (insert either Lart or Josh name here)

- you ordered tires from "tire rack" when a "sponsor" here said "they" were discontinuing carrying fuzions 245/45's....not realizing that you can go to any tire place and still buy them installed cheaper and "fuzion" did not stop making them.

- even after buying 20 different crappy cup holders that don't work....you still scan the accessories parts in the auto store for that elusive one that will work every time your are there for something else.

- somehow 20 year old KONI shocks for $300 seems like a "really good deal"

- you actually spend 20 minutes and type a post in this thread.

Hope I made you laugh........let's keep this thread alive!!!!!!!!!
