^^^^^^^^^ now THAT is living the dream. AWESOME photo and story. I remember back in the day following these cars around in the paddock with my 35 mm camera. They were sure fun to see running in their series. Some took some pretty hard hits. Glad to see yours is still up and throwing some punches.........

Mine was never raced, just autocrossed, a few DE events, and a year or two with Brian Redman's Targa 66 track club.

Other than a couple laps at Nelson for 944Fest in 2010, it hasn't really been on the track for 15 years or more.

Under 20K miles, and most of those are street miles!

Wow, that must have been a tough one. Had the opportunity to meet you and see the car about 9 years ago at the Taj. It was really cool learning the history of the car and I'm sure it went to a good home.

Its still a work in progress, so pics will be updated as well. I want to repaint the fuchs wheels and the recaro seat is not the correct one yet. The cover of the 1986 seat is of to Southbound in England to embroid the porsche crest on the headrest.
Hello

Bump for my car : still for sale !

Meanwhile the car has a correct 1986 Recaro seat with original Porsche crest !
Mechanically it received a new clutch slave cylinder and hose from master cylinder to salve cylinder. Also new throttle cable installed.
The car has a Porsche Certificate of authenticity !

1 of 50 German cup cars from first Porsche cup season 1986.
Rebuilt engine and turbo, rebuilt Bilstein suspension, rebuitl brakes, repaint, very nice and original car ! Asking price : 61.944 €

Regards
Kristof

Just had some old 35mm slides scanned, and found these. When I first bought my car, I thought I would drive it on the street a bunch, so I briefly removed the roll cage.

It unbolts in sections, but as I recall you have to remove the seats and jack the car up to get the largest section out.

(Before sticking the pieces in my basement I reassembled it on the driveway to document how it went back together.)
.

Paul, is that the factory Matter cage? If so those are the best pictures of it I've ever seen, thanks!

Yes, factory Matter cage. I bought my car new from Porsche Motorsport US (Holbert at the time) in July 1987, these pics taken shortly after that.

For those of you that have owned Cup cars, can you tell me a bit about the exhaust? Was the cat deleted? Any special materials used?

Thanks!

Just saw this now:

Depends on the series that the cars were built for.

I think the german cars were initially raced with Cats to show that performance was not destroyed. The cars imported into north America all came with stock exhaust. The Canadian cars then had aftermarket 4" Walker exhaust systems installed by Canadian Pragmatics before racing.

There were some factory cat delete exhaust systems and even muffler delete that had a small resonator can. I recall there are pics of these systems earlier in this thread. I believe the materials were the same as the stock exhaust system, whatever SS alloy that is - I don't remember.
