Sounds like a lot of fun. Wanted to come last year but I had a conflict. There are at least six 944's in my area. Three of us are coming for sure. I'll try to
find the others. Might have a 968 coming also. Could this be the largest number
of 944's to gather in one location?

Wow, this sounds like it'll be fun. Unfortunately, I will be unable to attend as I am starting my first full-time, post-graduation job on the 18th.

Best of luck to everyone and remember to shoot those fireworks high, stand a safe distance from late-night guitar players, don't drink too much under high noon sun, and when you get lost on a cruise, just keep on trucking. Give the neighbors some exhaust fumes for me.

Bah... if you had the interview on the 18th I would understand... but since you already have the job, why not celebrate!

Short drive for you too!

UPDATE: Good news/Bad news. The great news is that I visited the site today, and it really is going to be great. We'll have plenty of parking, a real nice setting for the camping, the issues with the alcohol have been worked out and we are following up leads on the catering. The cabin is HUGE..we'll only use 10% of it, less if the weather is nice.

The BAD news is the dyno guy backed out. Bummer, but it is NOT a deal breaker. I'm on the horn looking for a replacement. Dynotech, who builds these portable units, is here in the Cleveland area and I'm getting leads from him as to who bought them and who may be available. There are 15 units like this out there and I've only talked to 3 so far. I'll find one.
The OTHER bad news is the lodging. In the past, only a few folks opted for a hotel. I went to three different hotels near the site (within 2 miles) and they are all sold out for July 16th. The vintage motorcyle races are at Mid-Ohio that weekend and these guys have booked up the rooms. I'll continue to expand my search to find a block of vacancies. Worst case scenario, whomever needs a room may have to drive 10 or 12 miles. Other than a shower, I'm fine camping. What the heck, maybe I'll just soak myself with the hose in the car wash line we'll have Sunday AM.

Brian Schmidt (burnt 944T) is going to be a big help, he's working on the catering and the cruise. (Thanks, Bri!!)

Anyway, the site looks AWESOME.. bring on the Miller, Jello shots and Dort! You guys are gonna love this!!

Hey Dan, I have a "Road Dyno" unit that we could use. Its not as good as having the real thing there, but it works well and would give us an easy and consistent way to measure, which might cut the hassle factor down by a ton, so we can focus on having fun, rather than sweating details.

I am SOOO there.

Regards,

Well, you guys know I'll be there! Dyno or not, I hope to unveil the 949 turbo setup. I've been kicking serious **** to get things put together. I may just have to go into debt to make sure it's done and ready to be there? We'll see and we'll see you there! The last two were, well I can't find a word suiting enough, heaven for a 944 nut. Hella good time as always and you still have a way of out doing yourself each time!

Talking

As far as the road dyno, you are talking about the G-techs, right? I was excited about having 60 folks standing around the car as it wails thru 4500 RPMS on its way to 6500, That wouldn't compare to guys coming back from a road trip holding a little box that said "480" or whatever. I'm sure you know what I mean. I've got one of the early models, the VR2000, it was the predecesor to the G-Tech and is closer to a toaster sitting up on the dash.

Anyway, thanks for the offer ------but let's HOPE it doesn't come to that!

Andy..thanks for the kind words. As I examine my budget for the event, I'm constantly thinking "This CAN'T go on forever"..so let's enjoy it while we can. I really can't imagine a better layout than the one I've got set up for this year. The guy who I'm dealing with at snow trails, Shawn, is a car guy.. he's got a few SAABs. (I think he's a bit sympathetic to our "red headed step child" status!) and admitted to me he's been watching the classifieds for a 944T or 928, so I know I've got a great connection there. It is all good..

The one I have counts ignition pulses and uses an accelerometer formula.. but it still needs to be done on the road. I would prefer a stationary unit.. but we can make due.

Isn't the road dyno that cool thing that uses a microphone and software to calc. the hp and stuff?

UPDATE:
"Hi Dan
I need to talk with you again. After our conversation yesterday, and the fact that it took me so long to get back to you. We feel that we are obligated to have our dyno at your event. We will get someone else to cover the show in Syracuse NY.
Please call or email me with your phone number and we will get all the details settled. We are looking forward to the 944 fest.

Thanks Rich J"
