"So anytime my old man gets on my *** about something, I always tell him "yeah well at least Ive never had to have my sorry *** bailed outta jail."

Heh, heh... they came and got me at my house around 9am on a Sunday once too. I had a fix-it ticket for a busted headlight on my Camry. I sold the Camry and didn't think about that ticket. Which became a failure-to-appear and failure-to-pay a fine and they issued an arrest warrant. They must've really been bored and looked up who was close by and came and got me...

Hmm, well when I got my license I was 16 and it was January in MN. My parents let me drive my mom's old car, an 87 Audi 5000s wagon with 170k. It was big, black, beat, and slow. But it was a 5 speed. I went on errands one day with a friend and was driving too fast in a parking lot, I pulled into a spot and hit some ice and slid right into the bumper of the blazer next to me. It turned out to be a rental car so the driver didn't really care, and I was able to pay for it without using my insurance. The bumper on the blazer was trashed, but hte Audi had a slightly bent hood and a cracked grille. I drove it home and unbent the hood with a pliers, couldn't tell the difference. My friend's dad had an old Audi that didn't run so he gave me a the grille off it and I was on my way. The day after I bought the 944 I drove it to school, leaving school that day I hit some sand (the car had bald tires) and barely avoided curbing the car. I bought new tires the next week. ONce driving home from school I was going pretty fast and the car in the other lane I was coming up on didn't look and started to turn, at this point his rear wheels were at my front fender, I slammed on my brakes to avoid an accident, all 4 wheels were locked up and the tires were screaming, this was at highway speeds. That was scary. I'll think of some more when I'm not studying for an econ. final.

Nice..

Bobby D and I were at his gf's house. They had just broken up.
Time for beer. We get in his newly installed 454 71 Camaro RS. (It was purple and primer grey..) He fires it up and unloads 600 some horses into the fresh Muncie 4spd.

(the synopsis..Too much torque. The bolts anchoring the Verry Meaty N50-15's on the rear had all sheared. Yep. every one of 10 frigging studs sheared clear through the chrome reverse deep dish steel wheels. .like a guillotine. )

We felt the car lurch forward, and nothing. No go. LOTSA REV!! OMG, but allas, NO GO. Got out and saw the fenders lipping in under the weight of the car as the fenders were now a part of the rear tires.

embarrasing to say the least.

Happy Holidays.

OK! Did a good one today!
I'm still getting used to the length of the front of the car. So I pull into a space at the local shopping centre carpark, there is a 4x4 in the space in front.
Ease in gently. Plenty of room. There is a BUMP and the 4x4 rocks.
****!!!!!!
On checking, now I need TWO new lenses for the front parking lights, not just one!
4x4's with towbars and Porsche front ends dont mix well!

looks like i get to add a story of my own ... a few days ago i was sitting at a red light waiting for the green arrow to turn left. the light turns green and i look both ways ... all clear (not a car in sight) so i proceed to turn. half way into the turn i shift into second (nothing out of place so far ...) but my clutch is what i would call kinda _touchy_ and i made 2 mistakes which by themselves don't add up to much. i gave it a wee bit to much gas and brought out the clutch a little to fast. and just like that the back of my car is beside me and i end up off the road down in a shallow ditch beside the road ... and when the dust settled there was at least 10 cars sitting at the light staring at me ... so i put her into first and drove out of the ditch and away i went ... on a positive note there was no damage done to anything except my ego, and the folks who were pulling up to the light got a free show no doubt ...

Matt O, I had almost the same thing happen, rear end up working on eccentric bolts, a jackstand gave out and the car crushed my hand...broke the bones, ligaments etc...that sucked...so I understand.
