I am actually... This car was really destined for the scrap yard when I found it last year and I couldn't justify a nut and bolt restoration (as my 84), so I figured I'd have some fun.
Since the weather has been so crappy and the Public Works crews are dumping more salt on the roads than what's in the Dead Sea, I figured that I'd just continue to sort a few things over the next couple of weeks.
1. A small but satisfying project: It appears that these hoses are original and the cap is cracked to hell.
Yes I know that the hatched -hose design is for the later cars but I still like them over the clear for this car.
2. I installed these European air horns a couple months back - a real ham & egg job, don't you guys think??? It's actually pretty embarrassing...
Here's things cleaned up a bit (more to do while I work on my third project).
3. The last non-operational system on this car is the AC. Since I'm planning to attend the 944 event at Helen, Georgia this coming June, I better have the air conditioning working. Last year was pretty hot/muggy and I had to contend with a major rain storm all the way up the coast, so the windows had to be closed. Thank goodness my 84's AC worked like a charm! Anyway, the 83's condenser is shot due to an front end accident/collision that occurred long before I bought the car, so I started the teardown yesterday.
Have I ever mentioned that I hate PO's!!!! Whomever put the front end back together (post collision) used SAE and three different sized hardware to secure the front spoiler/valance; each bolt and nut were seized beyond reckoning. This was the first project where the hardware fought me every step of the way. Luckily, I prevailed and, since this area was the last section that I hadn't disassembled, all new hardware will will be used during final assembly.
If you look closely, there are several holes at the base of the copper pipes, as well as the numerous dents...
I also replaced the black plastic cooling air duct (pretty buggered up) with a nice spare I had laying around.
Now I'm just waiting on a new condenser, which should be arriving in a few days.
BTW: I'm not sure if everyone knows this but I was notified earlier this week that Porsche has begun selling brand new dashboards for the early 944 models (incl. 924 and 924S). They look quite amazing! My local dealer quoted me $1,600.00, however; there is some discussion within the 944 world that other dealers are selling them for as little as $1,200.00. There were 38 available in Germany as of yesterday. Unfortunately, they only come in black. Get em' while you can!

The condenser finally arrived so I spent the afternoon putting everything back together. The unit didn't look too bad and it went in easy enough.
Back together and ready for the road...
Next step is to install the 90 deg R12 to 134A fitting (once it shows up).

Dear Pfarah7: I think the air duct number is 944-575-921-00. Looking for a damaged/undamaged one to duplicate in aluminum. This scoop is for the early cars only. I have a great one for the later cars, but they won't come close to fitting. I'll be glad to swap mine for an early one, and even pay the postage on both, if there are any takers. TIA

I took her out on a nice long run to visit Rich (Tiger 03447) up in NH today. 250 miles to be exact and she ran great... This has been the single longest drive since ownership!

Considering you are going to drive this thing to Ice Station Zebra put a mesh or one of those things that they put at the bottom of screen doors to protect the condenser. Based on the project find something vented and durable and screw to the valance.

That looks way nicer; is it FlexSeal?

I don't think so - She's having a sleepover in the Cape with some of her new friends (a couple of Corvettes, BMW Z8, another 84 944). I did visit a week ago and she seemed pretty chipper.
