The subaru is a great car and can be modded to be extremely quick. It isn't really the same as saying you can make a Ford Fiesta faster than a TT Porsche. The WRX starts out as a great car. Just about any decent car can be turned into a Porsche Beater in straight line racing and with the AWD of the WRX I would imagine with a little tweaking it could be a great "track" car.
I used to own a C5 Corvette that everyone said "well bring it to the track and we will see how well it can handle against my NSX or S2000", I hate to say it but unless you have driven a Corvette after 97 you have no idea how well they handle,brake and accellerate. 7 out of 10 AutoX at GM wins against so called great handling cars proves that.
Give a great car credit no matter who makes it. But for me there is no other car than Porsche for all out great performance in every area. Jack of all trades. Just my .02

Our 911's are sports car with timeless lines. The WRX is a very sporty sedan that will change every 5 years. Not fair to compare the two in any way.
It is interesting though that I am always being challenged at stop lights. I guess our P-cars are the standard by which other brand owners measure themselves.

YOU SHOULD HAVE BEEN IN THIRD GEAR WHEN YOU RACED THE WRX, YOU STILL WOULD HAVE LOST BUT YOU WOULD PROBABLY NOT HAVE BEEN BLOWN AWAY. AT 65 IN 4TH YOU ARE OUT OF YOUR POWER BAND. MY FREIND HAS A WRX AND WITH MODS THEY ARE SUPER FAST QUARTAR MILE CARS. LOOK AT XCCELERATION.COM FOR 5,000 YOU CAN MAKE THAT CAR DO 0-60 IN 3.4 SEC AND QUATER MILE IN LOW 12'S WHICH IS FAST FOR THE INVESTMENT

There's nothing better than pulling up next to a boxster S, having the male driver point and laugh at your car to look hard in front of his girl, and then you both rev up and you crush him so badly the girl starts laughing at him <img border="0" alt="[hiha]" title="" src="graemlins/roflmao.gif" />

Who said porsche 911's were fast in the first place? Before I put the small block in my car I was like Fred Flintstone on the hwy. Mike keep up the a$$ busting they hate to lose, good work.

Somebody needs to search the archives. I remember a post where some purist was describing the proper technique to sneer with disdain at another driver (to avoid an *** whipping). That would certainly seem to fit here. Bottom line, there are lots of cars that will abuse a N/A 911. Not long after I got my 928 I abused a 996. Excuses where numerous, the guy couldnt drive, the car was sick, etc. Maybe all of that was true. Regardless, I wore the guy out 3 times in a straight line & once around a big sweeper.
Mike be careful out there the American car guys know about forced induction & technology too. I know a guy with a streetable Mustang running 8.80's.

SleeperWRX, I agree with your reasoning. When I was much younger and very financially challenged, I had a Mazda 626 Turbo that was a complete sleeper. I had many successful stop light drag races against more pricey competition.
Now that I am older and supposedly wiser, I do not participate in any stop light drag races.

George, now I have one of the new 6.0 liter modern overhead cam chevys in my pickup - now you and I both know that you couldn't get 630 hp out of a 383 even if you had two of 'em. Now quit foolin around with those silly numbers.

Every so often I would get a kid in an Import , WRX,Civic, Integra,Supra or whatever where he thought he was extremely modded. And in my past 98 C5 with a 383 stroker,LS6 Intake, Borla Exhaust / B&B headers ,80mm TB, 100 shot,Hypertech Programmed and tuned "right" 6 speed and the list goes on and on. He became a very tiny image in my rear view mirror. <img border="0" alt="[burnout]" title="" src="graemlins/burnout.gif" />

I only go 0-60 in + or - six seconds. But when I get to the nice resorts or restaurants in my area they park my car right out front. Always. So even if I get beat by a WRX or some other newer, faster car, I'll still get to the bar first cause the other driver has to walk from the parking lot.
