Here are some photos of me dry fitting the intermediate shaft, oil pump and crankshaft assembly into the crankcase. I fit them in both sides of the case and rotated them to be sure they spun smoothly and freely. The intermediate shaft assembly was a little finicky. It took some alignment to drop into the bearings level - my first attempt I found that it did not fully rest in the outer bearing and it caused rubbing with the intermediate shaft gear against the case. This is why you dry fit first! I am taking my time studying everything so that I am well prepared when I go to seal everything up. Kind of nervous!

So, all of the way back to post #360 I had shared my new RSR styled motor crossbar. Spyerx had pointed out the relatively weak attachments for the ends where the motor mount bolts slide through. I had my guy, Andy add some strength to the ends.

Hard to see in the before and after photos, but there is now additional welded support. Wanted to keep it light so not a full gusset.

Before

After:

However, I saw this today! Now I need to drill some more holes to lighten it more!!

don't drill holes :-) That's a nice job, the issue really is the end bit.

I did something similar on the sway bar mounts on the rear when we had them installed to reinforce the mount points and bracket.

^haha I was kidding about all the holes. Not sure if anyone else has been following the car that the motor bracket with all those holes drilled in it. It has been dubbed as the 'lightest 911 in the world' and there are holes drilled in literally everything. It is a fun build to follow - crazy attention to weight savings. I follow it on Instagram.

This pump was fully functional. Filled up the Suburban the old fashion way (but not at old fashioned price per gallon lol). Cool to watch as 10 gallons at a time would fill from the pump into the tank!

Got my seats today - yet another set of parts I need to store until my car is ready to be put back together Very happy with the color combination I selected. I went with black leather and a brown/black/cream Pepita pattern. Figured it would look good against Signal Yellow and looks more vintage to my eyes compared to some of the brighter white Pepita patterns. There is a slight amount of bunching in the fabric near the lower back area but they were just unboxed and they were packaged together with each seat making contact with the other so maybe the fabric will relax after some time. I just can’t wait to get them in the car!

I had not circled back to share the ETA for the paintwork. According to the painter, I am looking at 2-3 months - but who knows if COVID could throw some more curveballs. They will be carefully documenting the work along the way with photos. Signal Yellow here I come!
