I'm just saying why get an exemption until 06/2026 when you plan to stop production 10/2025? Wouldn't be the first time Porsche changed their minds.

Unlikely that they’ll continue to build low volume 4RS and SRS once the rest of 718 production has ceased. Perhaps all ice 718s will be extended due to delays with next gen electric, hybrid, ice or whatever they are planning? Have a feeling they may be backpedaling decision to go all EV, like Ford/GM. Bold move to go all electric on mid-engined platform and a big miscalculation in my humble opinion.

The exemption is for sale, not production. Perhaps that is the end of the EU fiscal or regulatory year? It aligns with the 2024 stop sale of other 718s.

Anything is possible I guess.

Even worse..."by" the middle of year as opposed to Oct.

Porsche's production manager Albrecht Reimold told Automobilwoche the Boxster and Cayman will go out of production by the middle of next year. Porsche is pressing ahead with the all-electric replacement, which he has already driven, and promises it'll be a "real fun car." No further details were released, but judging by spy shots, the convertible is likely to come out first.

Based on what I saw at the Grossglockner, where Porsche was testing at least 4 Boxster EVs (and no Cayman versions yet), the EV version will be very capable dynamically. However, still very quiet. And I am not sure about the range. I do like the Boxster/Cayman as a roadtrip vehicle, so the rumored shorter range would be a big negative.

That interview was given by Mr Reimold shortly before the SRS and 4RS production extension exemption was granted for Europe until 06/30/2026.
Which also explains his mid 2025 comment as that was the previous mandated SRS and 4RS sunset for Europe. We shall see...interesting for sure.

Picked mine up Saturday. 6 degrees C on the drive home, roof down of course, so I know the heater works. And the Porsche Stability Management works on ice...

Thanks Evo X. Whoops, I haven't taken any interior shots yet. Just hopped in and drove it 200kms home with a quick stop for the above photo(s).
These configurator ones are the best I can do for now. Boring black and grey I'm afraid...

And right-hand drive too by the way.

Simply stunning and congrats! Is that gentian blue? Also, are you in Australia? With the RHD and 6 c in July, I’d guess you’re down under. Edit: Scratch that last question. Your profile confirmed my hunch.

Thanks Don3699. It is Gentian Blue as PTS wasn't available when the order locked, but that may have been a blessing in disguise as it looks gorgeous in the sun, even if I do say so myself! You are correct, the southern state of Australia is home.
