I supposed it would be possible to convert the standard Spyder roof to that of an SRS, but surely this would be cost prohibitive.

That's another disappointing aspect of the Porsche buying experience - I was able to secure my Spyder at MSRP, but have already been told that there's no way I am getting one without an ADM. But it might be possible for the 918 buyers...who are also the only people who can get PTS (they won't do it for anyone else).
I've purchased three cars from my dealer, so it's not like I am some dude off the street. But I am so far down the totem pole that I feel like some dude off the street. This particular aspect of the buying experience is not pleasant.
I am happy that there are people out there that have that kind of relationship with their dealer (like you), I just know that doesn't apply to me LOL.

From comments here and there on the reviews, it would appear the loudest config is the Bimini one, with the back open to let the sound right in, but the Bimini cave acting as a reverb chamber. The Car reviewer saying “too loud”…but I don’t know his thoughts on the 4RS decibel level, for comparison. Just one perspective, but worth considering.

I am willing to sell a put option to acquire anyone’s srs at msrp for an up front 2% of build cost for anyone who is worried their srs will be too loud, too stiff or too terrible a roof.

That raises something I have been meaning to ask about. Some guy at a PCA event was saying he “sold” his gt4rs allocation for…a LOT of money.
Is that a thing? I assume the SA would have to be in on it…? The SM? That sounds…complicated.

I vaguely remember hearing about this sort of a thing in the past, but can't imagine it is a high frequency situation. But what do I know.

The demand for SRS, i think, is going to be way lower than 4RS. A lot of people are turned off by the roof, and a lot of the 4RS hype has died down (you can tell from markups dropping from 100k to 30-50). It's just anecdotal evidence, but I'm part of a large CA Porsche FB group, and people get excited to no end and buy every new GT3/GT4/RS, special editions, etc...it's literally crickets in there about the SRS. I personally would prefer a GT3 with a manual or even a regular Spyder with a manual, but the ship has sailed to buy a new one, and when used ones are going for ADM, it's not worth the effort. I'm going to try to get an SRS. Have my name down at 3 dealers...we'll see.

The 4RS is too firm on road and has a useless wing (and roof)
I have a GT3 manual , clearly you dont know what are you talking about, i tell you a secret , to enjoy a manual you need low-mid torque that this engine is lacking , better a PDK BECAUSE has shorter gears

agreed, I'm an open top guy too, i'd take an SRS over a 4RS. I actually have 0 interest in 4RS. I'm not a track rat, and if i wanted a closed top GT car, i'd get a 991.2 with a manual for a lot less money than a 4RS.
