I don't think anyone one is defensive but I think people who do not own a 4rs or have limited seat time have no clue thats all.

ALso i bet its slower lol

4RS in 4th gear 60-100kph 3.9seconds 992 gt3 is 4.2
60-100 in 5th gear so lower revs again the 992 is even slower 4.9 vs 5.5

80 - 120 kph (5) 4.6 s 5.2 s

So the 992 is slower every where what ever revs or gears.
every GT car lacks torque under 5K. I wouldn’t consider thinking about how much power it made unless I was over 5K.

That said I generally aim for 6-8K while having fun.

all the fast laps data in 4thand 5th gear rolling times the 992 was slower at all speeds and any revs ?
there is your data. 4rs has less drag, shorter gearing and thinner tyres it’s going to be faster and the times prove that.

lap times the GT3 is faster. So the 4rs is a fun car and if any one sits at 4K revs and floors it, then moans about torque they are a bit stupid :-) and they have bought the wrong car, get it sold.
it sounds as I have said like the cayman R days when there was a group of people moaning at that car at 2.5k revs. I ran a cayman R as a daily over 4 years never once did I see the flat spot.
the only **** engine was the 981 gt4 imo that did have a nasty flat spot and zero top end.
I think this 4.0 .2 gt4rs engine picks up far faster and better than my 991.2 GT3. And and both those car pick up better than the 991.1 gt3. Try a megzer car ! They are hyped up and crap on the road imo, no one ever talks about how dead that car is below 6k !

I think a few are talking about the 4rs issue and are wrong in every way. Bit like all the you tubers saying it’s too loud when at 70mph it’s 76db ! Again every one wants a db reading a 8950revs to make a vid !

Where do you guys live? With all of you constantly gunning the throttle to do high speed runs I would like to know which cities and roads to avoid. Thanks in advance.

My biggest problem is dialing out the understeer with my 4RS on track. Speed is not the problem.

I have a Cayman R (manual), never perceived it to feel sluggish in any part of the rev range.

Also had a 981 GT4. It felt weak to me in 3rd gear, fine in other gears.

I had a 991.1 GT3 for a long time. Compared it back to back with the 4RS, and the GT3 felt stronger to me.

Our 4RS will be here in less than 2 weeks, and I’ll be able to evaluate it extensively (up to 7k) then. Maybe my perception will change with more time in the car. It’s ok if doesn’t, I expect that I’ll love the car either way.

Funny comparison I know but when I had my tuned 996 Turbo X50 and test drove a CPO Cayman R, I thought half the cylinders were not working lol

the 4RS is a honey badger 24/7

OK done some tests

4RS in 3rd at 47-67mph MPH flooring it from 45mph which is 4k revs in 3rd gear recording 47-67 mph = 1.8 seconds
4.0 GTS PDK sports plus manual 3rd gear same speeds 46-67mph 2.4 seconds. SO WAY WAY slower.

i did 3 runs in each, same times for both every time.

More interesting in 2nd gear the RS drops to 1.4 seconds but the GTS now only 1.7 seconds so a smaller gap in time now but still slower by 0.3 seconds. it's hard to test as the 4RS has shorted ratio's but it's just faster any where at any speeds by quite a lot !!! WOT 100kph-200kph 6.7 vs 8.6 so now a 2 seconds gap which is 62-124mph though the gears.
Any speeds people want me to do just post em.
So while reviews and butt dynos say the GTS picks up and has more torque lower down it just don't it's **** vs the 4RS any where at any speed. but on it's own at high revs the GTS is a mega car and very fast imo, none of these cars like low revs.

.
yep your butt dyno is way out if you think the 3.8 GT3 felt stronger. 3.8 is weak in the md range.

I think he will change that opinion once he gets the 4RS. The .1 can hang with most from 7K on but it doesn't have much below that compared to any of the 4L cars.

how dare you you bring real data to an internet debate about personal feelings!!!😂😂

seriously, good info. Appreciated.

I know that manifold has many cars but as a previous long term owner of a 991.1 GT3, no way does that car top the midrange of a porsche powered by a 4.0L GT3 engine.

Unfortunately I must conclude that his butt dyno is off.

I did find the mid range punch of the 991.1 GT3 was somewhat weak, which is why I didn't enjoy driving it much on the road. It's just that 4RS felt even (slightly) weaker to me. Maybe because the 4RS is not my car, I didn't flog it properly. I'll do that when I get my car. Like I said, I'm keeping any open mind about this.

on the road I drive this, a modded manual 997 GTS, with ohlins and recaro's plus lots of other tweaks, better fun on the road than any modern porker or any older GT car and the x51 engine is a sweet unit, plus it only does 65mph in 2nd so fun all the time with gear shifts. This stays when all the other will be long gone.
A set of BBS LM's will go on it soon :-) to finish it off.

I'm warming up again to the smaller cockpit in the 4RS. I liked it in the original GT4 but 4 years in the GT3 kind of made me forget that. One mod I have done is the 3" wing risers and I'm really liking not seeing the wing anymore in the rearview. I think the car looks better too with it up a bit higher and aero should be better on track as well so win-win-win.

That may indeed be the perfect fun road car. More than a decade ago, my dealer had a new one sitting in the showroom which looked just like yours. To this day, I regret not buying it.
