Truth. I passed many GT3's, ALL the GT4's, and even the occasional GT3rs while on track in my 991.2 Targa 4S, before picking up the GT4rs.
Truth is, most people are significantly under driving the capabilities of their Porsche/car on the track. Let alone on the street....
I know I'm still under driving my GT4rs on track, relative to what the car has to offer. Makes the practice and the experience fun!

I drove my GT4rs 36 miles today. First time in 3 months. It was glorious! The mechanical engine noises were sublime. Can't wait to get it back on the track in a few weeks!

Oh, I agree. I run out of talent long before the 4RS does. Was only comparing like for like..

I had my first ride in one the other day, and it left a lasting impression on me. The owner ripped it up and down the power band in variety of gears, all the way up to 9000. We were at the track that day so my hearing had already taken a beating, so at least that day I didn’t find it too loud (just really exciting, and the car has a massive shove when you dip down and floor it).

With a few well placed mods, not so much, the 4RS has more than a chance. With 9.5 inch front wheels, much wider track all around, 265/305 tires, a 70 lbs diet to date, the correct geo, a Kline exhaust with about 20 more hp, better pads and rotors, and a couple hundred pounds more aero on the way, I can run down virtually any street car that shows up the track. Just watch Barry on Youtube with his "itstracktime" videos. He crushes or matches most all the other Porsches on track except for a few particular cars driven and prepared by the best down there. He is still working on setup and future mods too.

I honestly cannot tell if you are joking???

I have to believe you are joking but, if not . . . who in the world would buy a 200K Porsche GT sport/race car and do all of that???

Yeah, you must be joking.

Most of the guys I have met over the years tracking Porsche GT cars have all modded them in one way or another. The GT4 RS, even in stock form, is turning in impressive times at tracks around here.

At my home track (Summit Point), a pro drove a 4RS for four laps and did low 1:17s, told me he could have gotten into 16s. The car was very well set up for the track by a race shop, with aggressive alignment and CR-S v2 tires, I believe factory springs and dampers.

Same day, he drove our 992 GT3 and said the best the car could have done that day was 19s, maybe 18s. It had worn Cup 2 tires and alignment which probably wasn't close to optimal for the track.

With equal tires and equal work on the setup, I think the two cars will do about the same lap time. The 992 GT3 is a more developed car, but the 4RS is mid-engine and I think that's an advantage on track.

I think you are probably right.

Just think it is interesting to post this here, take this as for fun only. They are all different drivers, different days.

On Laguna Seca, with track average speed of 80mph

Somebody just did 1:29.68 with a modified 4RS

Fastest stock 4RS time: 1:31.87

Fastest stock 3RS time: 1:28.65

Fastest GT3 time I can find is 1:32:07, looks like the car is pretty stock with only brake modification.

So in laguna seca, modified 4RS is close to a stock 3RS. And stock 4RS is similar to stock GT3.

I think 4RS is 10 seconds slower than GT3 on Nürburgring. Nürburgring has avg speed of 98mph. So this siginificantly pointed to GT3's high speed advantage, probably mostly on aero. I think likely 4RS might do better than GT3 at slower tighter track, or in autocross situation.

Have you been in both? Doesn't sound that much different to me, now it's been a couple of months since I've been in a 4RS, but it sounds very similar to my ear. Yes it's muted with the full roof on, but with the bimini it sounds very similar to me. Definitely not as loud with the roof off, but again sounds similar. I'm not sure why you don't think they sound the same.

Akeks' car is pretty setup with a lot of the mods Lovetoturn mentioned. Plus Aleks was running slicks that day I believe. Not to take anything away from him as a driver, he's very quick.

The second vid is impressive as I believe his car is relatively stock on Yoko 52s but he's evidently a pretty good autocrosser.

Jaden drives SP Motorsports' cars so I'm sure Chasen has done some track setup on that 3RS. I think he's a pro driver as well.

Point is the 4RS can hang with any of those other GT cars to the point that it's mostly driver dependent.

Jaden is a pro driver, who’s actively competing in various sports car race classes. Super nice guy, and obviously fast as hell. In his hands, there’s not much that will get close to his time in a 992 GT3 RS.

Aleks is not a pro racing driver. It is a testament to his driving skill, car setup, and capabilities of the GT4 RS that he ran a 1:29. On stock suspension.

All these cars in discussion, RS or otherwise, are super capable. The driver makes a huge difference.

Why? That is usually what enthusiasts and people who often go to trackdays do, improvements here an there, test different things
I know the average GT driver is more a cars and coffee breed who shows off the yellow calipers at the door of his favourite club, but luckily there's still some people like lovetoturn

"Who buys a GT sport / race car and complains it is harsh on public roads and too loud?"
This should be the question ...

people into cars not the badge at the car park. Issue today is the VIP and Badge buyers on all the forums :-)

The point I was trying to convey was not that I care what anyone does with their vehicles, including how much they spend on mods

Rather, hard to believe that anyone would buy a 200K Porsche GT car built for the track . . . and then want/need to spend another 25-100K on mods for the track

As to your latter point about badge buyers, yes, I realize most RS will never sniff a track . . . or see the light of day outside a weekend drive.
