I miss the old BAT. Now the business model is new Broncos and Porsches being flipped.

The reserves BaT has given out on the GT4/Spyder's lately are way under MSRP and this is the first instance where no one had trust in the seller so it actually went for the low reserve. As an example BaT refused to go above 112k as a reserve for me on my 127k+ MSRP Spyder which had a perfect spec of Buckets, PCCB's, PDLS+, leather, etc. I declinded and sold it privately above MSRP since it wasn't worth taking a risk with BaT on. Dealer offers were around what BaT was offering so I have a feeling this seller got a few dealer offers which were at the BaT reserve and he decided to take a chance with BaT. The days of dealers offering MSRP for GT4's/Spyder's is long gone.

I honestly don't understand the concept of BAT and why would people even sell there.
I used TRED several times now and with a little patience, I always managed to sell for almost what I asked for.
Why would I limit my listing to a few days when I can have it up there for weeks until I find the right buyer?

I think the hope is that you catch lightning in a bottle (or maybe more like "catch FOMO in a bottle"?) and generate a bidding war, which gives you outsize rewards beyond what you would likely generate by listing conventionally. On the buyer side, I think it makes more sense for highly desirable classic cars, where there seems to be a certain amount of "comfort in numbers", and there's definitely an aspect of benefitting from the expertise of the (small percentage of) commenters that are very knowledgeable about a particular model. For late model, low-mileage cars, though, I think it's all just monetized FOMO...

I don't get the BAT thing either. Just seems like a place to guarantee you overpay for something, because there's a higher standard for the amount of pictures? Best I can come up with, the appeal comes from being able to judge the owner as well as the car.

I guess I'm just not "enthusiast enough" to get it.

You'd think it would be easier to just trade the car in for 100k rather than go through two botched BaT auctions. Unless the engine really does have issues and this was the only way he could offload it. If the car is fine someone got a hell of a deal. And it was worth the risk to them. BaT has 666 auctions live right now. It's not some super curated marketplace.

No way this seller who claims he is super busy and can't find the time to communicate through BAT didn't try to just walk into his local Porsche dealer and sell them the car.

That's probably about a $135K sticker? I could see 160+\- to the right person. Very bold and unique spec. And not "too much."

It's a beautiful car but $180k is indeed crazy. Even 000 package with full on custom interior and PTS sold for $200k. Wonder what makes him think he can get $180k?

The huge difference between 000 cars and this is that a 000 car is branded as such, almost like a new trim level. This car, however, just has some customization tailored to the owner's taste, which doesn't necessarily worth anything extra to the buyer

I love how Gulf Blue fits the Spyder (though that particular car would have popped a lot more with silver wheels); but to me it simply is not worth $180k just because of the paint. 000 package is something much more unique and special, the interior is much more exclusive and elevated. So 000 cars are worth a bigger premium than a PTS only car in my opinion.
