I’m looking forward to it too. He’s going to have a huge grin on his face! Do you know which exhaust he’s running? I think I read DeMan offers some choice.

I believe Fabspeed headers + stock rear section. Not sure about his OAP situation.

Matt's Spyder has Fabspeed headers, Hi-Flow cats and mid-pipe connected to the stock factory muffler.

@Rick DeMan A point of interest, I've seen Matt F reference using an octane booster to run 100 octane in your engine.
Is that the only option, or do you have a 93 map too?

Requirement is 98 Octane.

Just for Matt's engine?

I recall a post from you that implied you could tune for east coast cars at 93 octane, and west coast at 91 octane, is this still not the case? Given that HP will be different as a result.

***EDIT*** Back at post #67 the octane discussion began and was summarized (at that time) in post #80 and 81

FWIW, Matt talks a little bit more about his car in latest podcast. Also learned why I'm hearing a knock in my 981, and how its a "feature"..few other interesting Porsche tidbits in here as well:

Ugh this thread taunts me. I'm going to use the 3 years or warranty to improve my driving and merit spending money on this.

Agreed,

I remember reading as well that the 718 cars could be used on east cost 93 octane from the pump with no additional additive..... Is this still the case?

98 octane is the easy part, the $60k or so for the engine and gears is what I have trouble finding.

So something has changed since post #81, partial quote below:

ALL 718 cars are tuned on 93 east coast octane. West coast cars are tuned for 91
The 981 cars are tuned for 93 east coast fuel with boostane. They can be run on 93, but for any of the conditions stated above they need more octane. We have a tune to run the 91/93 by itself for the west coast guys.
Switching tunes for different octane has proven to be a bad idea, as good as you all say you will be about it, it never works out that way.

Just doing the short gears seems like a good value here compared to the full 4.5

Gears alone wake the car up, but the motor transforms the car altogether. I’ve had both setups.
