I've had access to them in the 30-40k over range.

Relationships do matter. Good sales people and dealers often want specialty cars in the hands of people that represent their dealership and the brand well.
Yes, they want to make money. Yes, they want to get the cars back as trades for future vehicles.
Not all dealerships and sales people are egregious in their transactions, but the few that are leave poor impressions on all of us.

He's right: Relationships DO matter. And it's not just about buying cars from the dealers. It's about being a decent person and a good customer.
I didn't have a relationship with the Porsche dealer closest to my home. I was allocated a 981 GT4 from a dealer over 60 miles away after promising to service the car and participate in their events, which I have always tried to do. (Not far, of course, but not next door, either.)
Less than two years ago, I walked into the closer dealership and started talking cars with an SA. We became friendly. I expressed serious interest in 718 CGTS 4.0s and GT4 RSs. About six months later, I walked in to say hello and walked out with an allocation for a CGTS 4.0, which I built and bought six months later. After picking up the car, which I have barely driven, I sent the SA a book about a hobby we shared as kids--skateboarding--and arranged to have the author sign it and send a fake "personal" letter from a famous skateboarder we both liked. I stopped in from time to time to say hello and reiterate my interest in a GT4 RS. Two weeks ago, I got a call: "Hey, how are you? Interested in a GT4 RS allocation? It's just $20k over." ...Hmmmm, I thought. That sounds pretty good since I had been prepared to jump through more and other hoops to try to get one at "MSRP." I asked if the $20k could include a watch (that I didn't need or want), and he said "Yes, that's what we'll do." So last week, I locked a '24 build of a car on which I first put a deposit--at another dealer entirely!--in NOVEMBER 2015(!!!). So, I'll pay $20k over and get a watch that sells to some people for $10k-$12k, which, net, is a lot less than I could have paid at many other dealers.
The best part is that I will walk from my home to the dealer to pick up the car, just as I did to pick up the CGTS last fall. And I have a new buddy.
Of course, YMMV, but being a good person is rarely a wasted effort.

And yes some folks get MSRP who have solid relationships, but those allocations didn't come 'for free'.

FWIW Porsche of Monterey has an available GT4 RS allocation, 2025 model and is PTS eligible. 40K ADM. If you're interested PM me and I'll put you in touch with Aaron the GM there. He echoed to me what that "leaked" dealer notification posted on the other thread revealed, that October 2025 is it for all 718 ICE production. He thought the allocation I mentioned above might be his last 4RS.

They may be far and few between, but there are good guy/MSRP only (new cars) dealers out there. I have a solid relationship with my dealer, and I have never purchased a vehicle I didn't want (only 718's and 911's) and they always give me more than fair trade value. Relationships do matter, and they don't have to be quid pro quo.

The socal dealers have some that they always are trying to push for 35k.
I found dealers in AZ and Texas under 20k (this was in Feb).
You don't need anything special, just say you are paying cash and ask what the ADM is. Most have been holding out trying to still get ADMs and youll see dozens for sale under 250k used.
A 2023 with 5k miles just sold for under 215k in AZ a few weeks ago after sitting on the market for 5 months over 250 then 240 then 230 then 220 then sold below 215k. One in Boston with 1k miles went for under 205 a few months back

they usually drop them in clumbs up until June for the MY. The last MY 24 were still being placed just last week....hell a dealer posted higher in this thread trying to push one 😂
